Job Description

Bosch Engineering North America is offering a professional role in our vehicle systems engineering team focusing on Electrified, Automated and Connected technologies.

Within the Bosch Group you will lead / establish collaboration across function (customer, engineering) and across divisions (Chassis Systems, Powertrain Solutions, Automotive Electronics, X-Domain Computing).

Are you looking to grow your impact and establish a new business area for Bosch? A focus area is to actively contribute to establishing rolling chassis as a new service area.

As Systems Engineer you lead development and testing activities across several areas (power supply electric systems, communication, high voltage & low voltage). Our internal and external projects range from concept studies, prototypes to series projects with established OEMs and start-ups. Our extensive customer portfolio includes a spectrum of major manufacturers from luxury and sports car segments to commercial vehicles including highly advanced technical applications.

Main Duties:

Vehicle Systems Engineer

  • Leading and collaborating vehicle development activities with customers, suppliers, as well as Bosch internal divisions and functional groups.
  • Requirements engineering at vehicle and system level (interface to stakeholder, bridge across all domains, in collaboration with component- and feature-owners).
  • Perform analysis and synthesis of vehicle features to derive requirements on vehicle and system level.
  • Creation of vehicle simulation models to optimize the system design and perform trade-off studies.
  • Actively participate in vehicle development (idea, vehicle definition, vehicle concept, vehicle implementation, vehicle validation, vehicle release).
  • Coordinate the implementation of the vehicle concept with consideration for all internal, external and legal requirements.
  • Actively participate in all phases of vehicle development (idea, vehicle definition, vehicle concept, vehicle implementation, vehicle validation, vehicle release)
  • Coordination of interdisciplinary project teams.
  • Present results and report progress to internal and external customers, stakeholders and auditors.
  • Willing and able to travel 20% (both domestic and international)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Automotive or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 years of automotive or transportation experience in the following disciplines (Formula SAE, EcoCar):

    • Practical application of engineering methods.
    • Vehicle motion systems (electric powertrain, brake system or driver assistance) and respective actuators.
    • Product or vehicle systems development including application of model based systems engineering and vehicle systems testing.
    • Developing vehicle test cases, validation plans as well as trouble shooting vehicle systems.
    • E/E architecture, communication systems (CAN, Ethernet, LIN).
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred:

  • M.S. in Electrical or Automotive Engineering.
  • 3 or more years automotive experience.
  • 1 year of experience in Diagnostic systems and relevant standards.
  • 1 year of experience in safety monitoring, functional safety and relevant standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, results oriented (drives issue resolution).
  • Proven record as team player in international teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with professional and positive attitude.
