Job Summary
This position is responsible for directing, planning, and controlling the University’s budget to ensure effective utilization of limited funds that are allocated to colleges and departments. This position also assists in preparing the monthly financial management report for the university administration; and coordinates loading and adjusting auxiliary budgets into the general ledger system. In addition, this position serves as a liaison with the staff in the Church Commissioner of Education’s Office.

- Administration and management of university budgets
- Work with campus deans, directors, controllers, etc. on budget issues
- Ad hoc assignments/projects
- Monthly financial report preparation
- Budget planning development
- Other administrative and Budget Office activities
Education/Experience
Minimum education/experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and five or more years of university budget or related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in accounting or related field, plus seven or more years of university budget or related professional experience.
Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
- Experience in university financial operations and analysis or other equivalent complex business environments
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in spreadsheet, accounting, and ERP software (PeopleSoft, Workday)
- Data analysis and visualization skills using Tableau, Power BI, SQL, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with all levels of a complex organization
- Appropriate emotional intelligence and customer service
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Additional Comments
This position reports directly to the Director of the Budget Office. It involves extensive computer work using PeopleSoft/Workday, Business Objects, Tableau, and other financial applications. This position works with Deans, Directors, Controllers, and Administrative Assistants in preparing and administering budgets. This position assists President’s Council in the preparation and delivery of the annual University budget and serves as liaison with the staff in the Church Commissioner of Education’s office. This position also occasionally interacts with budget offices at BYU-Idaho, BYU-Hawaii, and LDS Business College.
Financial management at the university is a fluid, evolving environment. This position must be able to adapt to changing management and operations. This position must be able to work closely with other Financial Services professionals and management across all of campus.
