Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Business Analytics
The Analytics and Operations Management (ANOP) Department at Bucknell University’s Freeman College of Management invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position in business analytics to contribute to the College’s mission of providing a rigorous, experiential education, in the context of one of the nation’s leading liberal arts universities. The appointment is slated to begin in August 2023.
We seek a candidate with a Ph.D. in Analytics or a closely related field (Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, etc.) from an accredited higher education institution by the start of the appointment. Candidates should be willing and capable of teaching a variety of undergraduate analytics courses and related courses of business analytics in addition to courses within the candidate’s area of scholarly interest and background. This position will support our current and growing instructional needs in both our business analytics major and university-wide electives. The standard teaching load at Bucknell University is five courses per academic year. The approximately 700 undergraduate students in the AACSB-accredited Freeman College of Management may choose among eight highly interdisciplinary majors that combine courses in the various fields of management with offerings in the arts, humanities, natural and social sciences, and engineering. Our innovative curriculum and world-class teacher-scholars earned the Freeman College a top 20 ranking in the 2022 Poets & Quants’ annual survey of undergraduate business programs. We believe that an undergraduate education combining technical skills and deep intellectual exploration is the best preparation for thoughtful and capable leaders. New faculty members must be capable of contributing to this mission through progressive teaching, advising, scholarship, and service.

We graduated our inaugural class of Business Analytics majors in 2022 and seek faculty invested in and committed to our growth, who further develop student opportunities and pathways for their success.
We also seek a teacher-scholar with a demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse student body and a track record of inclusive, innovative pedagogy. We seek candidates who ensure respect for a wide variety of positions, raise perspectives that may not otherwise be vocalized in the classroom, and are eager to advise and mentor students from multicultural and underrepresented student groups. We welcome candidates who demonstrate excellence in reflective multicultural and inclusive teaching practices and who display a strong commitment to collaboration and interdisciplinarity. Candidates with post Ph.D. full-time teaching experience may be granted credit towards tenure. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. This is a Faculty Exempt position. The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate’s credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
