Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

The Data and Process Analyst is responsible for maintaining data integrity in the PowerFolio group and sales for Power, Natural Gas, and Carbon Management & Renewable Energy related transactions. The Data and Process Specialist will work closely with Client portfolio managers, Sales, and structuring desks in preparing, maintaining, and developing data processes for transactions, customer tenant instances in PowerFolio web sites in regard to data, risk valuation models, In addition, the Data and Process Specialist will be responsible for managing the integrity of the customer deal addenda, open orders and contracts and any changes made to these documents/contracts in the PowerFolio system.


Job Responsibilities

  • Process, prepare and migrate historical load data Power transactions into the PowerFolio system.
  • Work with the IT Sales Operations Manager to develop, document, and update PowerFolio user guides and data flow documentation.
  • Learn, understand, and articulate data processes for all PowerFolio system outputs, including, but not limited to, risk analysis models, trend and regression models, carbon management and renewable energy models.
  • Operate data process and data requirements in InRetail and PowerFolio relating to contract migration, meter and consumption updates, and reporting and analysis outputs.
  • Performing load data forecasts, trend analysis and other statistical estimates to prepare quantitative analysis for transactions.
  • PowerFolio client portfolio managers and sales department in the requirements and coordination of customer meetings relating to data needs.
  • Manage open order tracking with PowerFolio and Structuring for new and existing clients.
  • Work independently to successfully resolve on-going issues with other internal and external users and systems.
  • Develop, review and audit standard reports for all PowerFolio customers on a monthly basis.
  • Work with IT, Back office and the structuring as new products are included in the systems to ensure accurate outputs.
  • Perform ad-hoc customization of the reports as requested by clients and management.
  • Candidate must be able work independently with multiple departments to find solutions for reporting, data, and process issues.
  • Candidate must also be able to intuitively recognize legitimate usage and cost anomalies in client data and be able to clearly articulate those factors to the PowerFolio client portfolio managers through written and oral discussion.
  • Candidate must be able to work with Calpine’s Carbon and Sustainability reporting suite in continuing to build out solutions for our clients
  • Previous experience with data management initiatives (data profiling, improvement, accuracy, completeness, integrity, security, stewardship, and governance)
  • Experience with data modeling Working with Power BI (or other similar User Interface processes) and other Business Intelligence systems.
  • Experience with DAX and MDX queries and performance tuning on SSAS is desirable
  • Experience with data warehousing, associated architecture, and warehouse implementation is preferred

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required with emphasis in finance, economics, business or related preferred.
  • Experience required 2-4 years or equivalent education and experience.

Experience

  • Commodity experience required.
  • Strong analytical aptitude and “out of the box” thinking.
  • Excellent computer skills with an emphasis on advanced spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate complex subject matter in a simple, clear and concise manner.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude and skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Candidate must also demonstrate skills in problem identification, analysis, corrective action and closure skills. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
