Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)
This position supports Calpine Energy Solutions’ Back Office applications covering accounts receivable, retail billing, and customer care activities. This position is primarily responsible for supporting Lodestar and RDS end user support requests, including system access, mass updates and ad-hoc data requests. Responsibilities also include developing functional and technical business requirements, completing testing of modifications to systems and interfaces and supporting the users in other various phases of System Development Life Cycle. This position is also responsible for utilizing query tools to analyze, read and retrieve data from various databases. This position will be the primary contact for a team responsible for the timely response to issues reported by the end user community. Good verbal and communication skills are essential.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and maintaining in-depth requirements based upon knowledge of the client’s business processes, data, and applications.
- Responsible for learning: business process, IT process, applications, and data used by their respective team and or client.
- Responsible for becoming an expert user of applications and systems to support internal and external clients.
- Responsible performing tests to ensure requirements have been met.
- Responsible for the timely entry, escalation, and general management of client requests and issues.
- Responsible for providing management and or stakeholders with accurate and straight-forward updates on the status of: new development, enhancement requests, and issues.
- Responsible for assisting with questions regarding: requirements, testing, client needs, issues found, and resolutions.
- Responsible for learning to proficiency how to work with management tools including: Jira, Azure DevOps, and data analytics tools, e.g. Power BI, SQL queries, Excel models.
Job Requirements
Education
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline – or equivalent work experience.
Experience
- At least 1 year of equivalent work experience or demonstrated proficiency in performing related functions.
- Energy experience is preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated, goal oriented, and able to learn independently.
- Must possess initiative, advanced decision-making skills, and problem solving abilities.
- Programming experience is preferred and experience scripting in SQL is highly preferred.
- Ability to simplify complex topics for broad audiences.
- Ability to manage one’s time across multiple assignment simultaneously.
- Ability to focus and perform at a high level in an open and dynamic team environment.
- Ability to break down complex business processes to; identify requirements, create test scenarios, create training documentation, and explain the business need to Development.
- Ability to work within a Scrum team and Agile environment.
- Takes initiative to learn complex business processes without being instructed to do so.
- Eager and adept at learning and applying new IT applications under self-direction.
