GENERAL DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Data Engineer is a key role in the Capital Caring Health data infrastructure. This position manages all organizational needs for data and ensures a framework is in place to ingest, process, map and visualize all data requirements. The primary responsibility of this position includes leading data governance and objectives to meet organizational needs, maintenance/improvement of data warehouse and related constructs, and supporting operational departments with data-based tools. This role is responsible for close coordination with key project stakeholders. The Data Engineer may lead a team of analyst to create and maintain analytical resources.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities – Within the philosophy, objectives and policies of Capital Caring health, carries out the following essential functions:
Quality Provision of Services:
1. Develops and maintains scalable data pipelines and builds out new API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.
2. Collaborates with analytics and business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.
3. Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it.
4. Performs quality audits and tracks metrics related to business application use.
5. Develops application/data reports as needed.
6. Performs data extraction and import functions within and between applications.
7. Manages HL7 interface and interoperability processes between internal and external systems.
8. Coordinates the execution and use of tools for audits.
9. Writes unit/integration tests, contributes to help desk knowledge base, documents work and maintains updated data schema.
10. Performs data analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues.
11. Manages data warehouse and BI servers
12. Designs data integrations and data quality framework
13. Designs/builds application tools to meet data centered project requirement.
Organizational Compliance:
1. Provides input to policies and procedures, training and best practices to support data models.
2. Promotes system security and patient confidentiality and helps ensure compliance.
3. Leads Data Governance committee and owns agenda and follow up items/tasks.
4. Promotes data validation of all reports and data-based resources.
People/Communications:
1. Provides on-call assistance as needed.
2. Works closely with all organizational departments and teams to develop strategy for long term data platform architecture.
3. Participates in meetings as required as a member of IT.
4. Builds strong relationships with key CCH stakeholders, vendors, and partner organization.
Financial Stewardship:
1. Achieves expected productivity standard as defined by the organization and in alignment with best practices/the Capital Caring Health model.
2. Financial department to ensure accuracy of all data and reports.
