Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business and Data Analyst to join the Medical Advanced Analytics & ML/AI team, which is part of the augmented Intelligence department. In partnership with business stakeholders in the Cardinal Health Medical segment, this team uses data to recognize and deliver opportunities to leverage Advanced Analytics & ML/AI and deliver business & customer value.
Responsibilities
The Business and Data Analyst is responsible for using information gathered from conversations with business stakeholders & Data in the IT systems to understand the business in multiple functional areas of the Cardinal Health Medical segment (especially the At Home business unit). He/She is also responsible for understanding the application landscape and business capabilities delivered and supported for each of the applications in the landscape. He/She will maintain relationships with the business and leverage requirements engineering practices and methods to enable improved business processes to drive business success. They align business strategies and capability needs into business and technical requirements to ensure IT systems enable the desired value.
This role will also be responsible for leading the elicitation of detailed requirements from the Product Owner and other subject matter experts and stakeholders to define epics, features and detailed stories at sufficient detail to enable efficient and predictable delivery. This role would need to maintain relationships with Product Owners, subject matter experts and IT stakeholders.
Responsibilities of this role include:
- Business Analysis / Opportunity Assessment – with a focus on harvesting ML/AI opportunities, lead sessions using variety of requirements gathering methods such as interviews, documentation analysis, surveys, site visits and shadowing to understand and document As-Is business processes. Validate the understanding using data in Data platform.

In partnership with other members of the team (like Scrum Master, Product Owner, Data Scientist, Data Visualization Engineer, Data Engineer, IT Solution Owner):
- Present Advanced Analytics & ML/AI capabilities to business stakeholders
- Work on building business case
- Execute various phases of the project (including validation of hypothesis and pilot)
- Value realization: Use data to determine and accurately present the success story of the delivered product/solution. This might include partnering with other business stakeholders.
- Lead Agile practices such as Backlog grooming processes, creation of testable requirements to enable clear prioritization of the backlog, and Gemba walks.
- Assist in testing and logging/tracking defects as needed
- Define detailed, granular and development-ready stories. Ensures stories align to stated product goals and drive productโs success metrics.
- Participate and contribute to release planning and iteration planning ceremonies
- Mediate across different delivery/project teams utilizing knowledge of business and technology, and roles and responsibilities within the organization.
- Recommend new practices, processes, metrics, or models
- Create documentation and complete Knowledge Transfer for business process and data analytics parts of AI/ML solutions to Run team.
- Guide and support the junior business and data analysts on the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in related field, or equivalent work experience
- Experience working as a Business & Data Analyst in Agile teams.
- Experience in creating and managing a pipeline of work with the ability to establish a
prioritization framework to manage work and capacity
- Experience analyzing data leveraging SQL, R, Python to data models in GCP (BigQuery) while producing concepts in data visualization tools like Tableau
- Experience in Data Analytics using tools like Tableau
- Experience in Healthcare (esp. US) industry is a plus
- Experience developing creative and innovative analytical insights with high business value
- Experience in presenting complex data and/or metric relationships to users for exploration, analysis and action
- Experience in Advanced Analytics & ML/AL is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and organization skills
