Carrier Fire & Security is looking for a passionate and hands-on Data Science & AI architect for our global businesses to build and monetize data-driven services. This is an internally facing role, owning the overall aspects of data strategy, orchestration, governance, and industrializing AI-ML use cases. The ideal candidate would have successfully operationalized and commercialized data-driven services while having worked closely with Digital Product Managers, Solution Architects, and Engineering and Product Management teams.
Functional:
- Analyze the company’s needs with the end goal in mind of using data to generate value
- Utilize data, infrastructure, and service intelligence to tackle interesting customer problems.
- Employ statistical techniques with big data initiatives and tools to drive major business decisions.
- Answer complex questions through data science, and advanced analysis, and communicate findings to multi-functional teams for direction.
- Seek opportunities to improve data collection, reporting, and consumption based on business use cases.
- Explore new design or technology shifts to determine how they might connect with the customer benefits & drive intelligent automated outcomes
- Research new technologies and develop business cases to support their use. Identifies data trends, generates insights, and comes to business conclusions. Supports strategic decision-making across the organization.
- Be willing to wear multiple hats to deliver on various business needs and customer requirements like building analytics dashboards, and proof of concepts involving enabling cloud data services for legacy applications.
- Educate the broader organization on the opportunities and value of data science
Technical:
- Take on the responsibility of improving product efficiency & performance through statistics, analytics, modeling, and AI-ML tools.
- Define the data science development workflows from coding and architecture best practices, and data strategy, to AI-ML training and platforms
- Understanding & federation of modern machine learning R&D techniques
- Experience in various sensing technologies and application of AI-ML to solve real-world problems
- Perform hands-on data analysis and modeling with huge (sensors) data sets
- Apply data mining, NLP, and machine learning (both supervised and unsupervised) to improve efficacy and build personalization algorithms
- Discover data sources, import, normalize, curate, and make them “model-ready”. You need to be willing and able to do your ETL
- Create and refine features from the underlying data with an intuition about what features might make your model perform better, to further rinse and repeat
- Run regular A/B tests, gather data, perform statistical analysis, draw conclusions on the impact of your optimizations and communicate results to peers and leaders
- Manages the development of standards, policies, and procedures for the form, structure, and attributes of business intelligence tools and systems.
- Defines and executes useful analyses to solve problems.
- Creates testing methodologies and criteria. Develops data/information quality metrics.
Required Experience:
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. in an appropriate technology field (Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, etc.)
- 5+ years of industry experience with data science
- 5+ years of experience in modern advanced analytical tools and programming languages such as R or Python with scikit-learn
- Efficient in AWS SageMaker, SQL, Hive, SparkSQL, etc.
- Comfortable in Linux environment
- High expertise in data mining algorithms and statistical modeling techniques such as clustering, classification, regression, decision trees, neural nets, support vector machines, anomaly detection, recommender systems, audio/video analysis, sequential pattern discovery, and text mining.
- Uses data to drive decision-making rationalization, solution features, technology selection, and customer engagement.
- Applies advanced machine learning, deep learning, and NLP/NLU techniques to build cutting-edge AI applications
- Must have used containerization, orchestration, and DevOps for faster delivery and easier maintenance.
Behavioral:
Relationship Building: Proven track record of building trusted relationships with Digital and Business management across product lines. Experience in managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solutions/initiatives.
Problem Solving: Ability to solve problems using analytical thinking, reconciling viewpoints, evaluating technologies, and leveraging key relationships.
Communication: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences. Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences (Senior Executives, Digital Management, Functional leaders as well as DevOps teams).
Travel:
- You will be required to travel as is determined by the needs of our businesses. This position may require travel to business sites up to 15% of the time.
