Summary: Loan Portfolio Analyst I is an entry-level position in Portfolio Analytics – Risk Management. The individual will support experienced loan portfolio analysts and management with portfolio monitoring, reports, and analysis. This person must demonstrate understanding of analytics consisting of an extensive use of mathematics and statistics, as well as the use of descriptive techniques and functions of predictive models to gain knowledge from the Bank’s portfolios and processes to aid in successful downside risk management and reporting. Basic report writing skills is a must.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Loan Portfolio Analyst I should display independent thought to present data and conclusions regarding risks to the Bank’s loan portfolio.
- Compile, analyze, and evaluate information related to the Bank’s loan portfolio per Bank policy and as directed by management for the creation of reports that will be presented to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
- Preparation of loan portfolio segment, concentration, and exposure files related to the nature, volume, and mix of the Bank’s loan portfolio.
- Works to gather economic, demographic, industry trends and other like information for analysis and input into report formats and models with the ability to create new reports with minimal direction provided.
- Identify and communicate any possible risks or issues related to reports, processes, or integrity of data. Take ownership of accuracy and readability of work products and reports.
- Support the preparation and documentation of the annual Stress Test.
- Communicate with other department associates to collect data and determine processes to understand the functionality of associated departments whereby ensuring integrity of portfolio data.
- Provide indirect support to Credit Administration Department management for purposes of enhancing loan (and related) portfolio understanding, information gathering and data entry.
- Thinking independently to present data and conclusions when there may not be a predefined policy or procedure.
Other Duties:
- Participate in discussions of opinion on global, national, regional, state, and local market economic data.
- Problem solver for the team as miscellaneous projects are assigned or procedures change and new procedures are created.
- Support others with workload as needed and maintain a positive attitude.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skilled at time management with the ability to meet strict deadlines and respond to high urgency requests from Management or other areas.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a pull through to basic report writing.
- Aptitude for quantitative analysis working with multiple variables, spreadsheets with large amounts of data, identifying/summarizing patterns, and trends.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a desire for accuracy.
- High degree of professionalism with the ability to quickly process and adapt to change in priorities.
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills, motivated and looking to provide value in all activities.
- Must possess the ability to work independently and with a team.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products – primarily Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
- 1-2 years of credit underwriting, financial analysis and/or economic analysis experience preferred. Similar prior work experiences with another financial institution a plus.
- Experience with Abrigo, Power BI, Tableau, CSI (Computer Services Inc – Bank Core), CVS (Collateral Valuation System – Core module), SQL, and general data systems preferred but not required.
- Department hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00.
