Meet the Merchandising Data Science and Economics team @ Chewy: We use the best of machine learning and economics techniques and continuously test the outcomes to simplify our Pricing, Promotions, Catalog assortment for our customers and Vendor partners. We are hiring a Associate Director to lead the Merchandising Data Science and Economics team, and the candidate can choose any of our Main Office Hubs as their location. This is a leadership position that will have exposure across the entire business, influencing the vision, development and implementation of machine learning/data science solutions that power the whole Merchandising business- i.e. Pricing, Promotions, Catalog, Category/Vendor Management at scale. You will bring experience spanning analytics, economics, and data science that will help ensure Chewy pet parents find the right products at the best prices.
What You’ll Do:
- Hire, develop and lead a team of data scientists and economists.
- Set the long-term vision, goals, and roadmap for the team.
- Build, test, and deploy pricing optimization models.
- Measure, refine and improve model performance.
- Collect requirements and feedback from internal stakeholders as inputs for project prioritization.
What You’ll Need:
- MS in data science, economics, computer science, or a quantitative/engineering field.
- Demonstrated history of leadership and full-cycle ownership of high impact data science and engineering projects, from model conceptualization to scaled deployment to iterative improvement.
- 5+ years of experience in directly managing and mentoring data/analytical/technical teams.
- Expertise using machine learning techniques (e.g. random forest, XG Boost, natural language processing)
- Proven experience with bringing structured thinking in ambiguous problems spaces and delivering solutions.
