Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Machine Learning Operations to join a science driven team in supply chain charged with delivering state-of-art ML models helping every pet parents. Candidates will partner closely with applied scientists and engineers to build out a ML infrastructure to enable delivering scalable production machine learning services to solve these liquidity challenges. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of the infrastructure and tools to create and deploy production models. Ideal candidates will have a track record of technical excellence in designing, building and delivering reliable solutions as part of a team. As a member of a new initiative, you must be passionate about inventing and delivering customer-focused solutions to ambitious and ambiguous challenges.
What You’ll Do:
- Establish scalable, efficient, and automated processes for ML real-time and batch deployments
- Design, build and maintain the ML CI/CD pipeline that automates data preparation, data analysis, experimentation, model training, model serving, monitoring and visualizations in production.
- Work closely with data scientists, data engineers, and software engineers to develop processes, identify bottle necks, and create effective solutions
- Deploy infrastructure for machine learning methods in a customer environment jointly with engineers, data scientists, and developers.
- Establish and manage the cloud stack (AWS) required for ML resources
- Lead and encourage MLOps best practices and tool selection
- Managing infrastructure and technical solutions to train at scale on millions of data records within hours not days as well as inference at scale
Minimum qualification:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or related technical, math, or scientific field
- 6+ years of industry experience developing applications, designing data architectures (e.g., data pipelines, distributed computing engines, ML infrastructure design), or writing software using scripting languages (e.g., Python, R), database languages (e.g. SQL, PL/SQL, PG-PL/SQL), and version control
- Experience using AWS ML ecosystem
- Experience training and hosting various types of ML algorithms
- Experience using data science tools, libraries, and frameworks (e.g. Scikit-learn, caret, mlr, mllib, SparkML, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, TensorFlow, PyTorch, MXNet)
Preferred qualifications:
- Masters degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or related technical, math, or scientific field
- 6+ years experience performing Data Scientist duties (e.g. ML algorithm selection, feature engineering, model training, hyperparameter tuning, distributed model training, supervised and unsupervised learning implementation, building model pipelines, using Machine Learning tools/libraries/frameworks)
- 3+ years MLOps experience (e.g. model versioning, model and data lineage, monitoring, model hosting and deployment, scalability, orchestration, continuous learning)
- Experience creating orchestration workflows with tools such as Airflow, Kubeflow, or AWS Step Functions
- DevOps experience (e.g. CI/CD Pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, containers, Agile software development)
- Experience implementing IoT solutions such as edge computing
- Big Data batch and real time data processing experience (e.g. Hadoop, Spark , Presto, Kafka, Kinesis, Flink)
- Experience writing production-level code using object-oriented design (OOD) best practices
- Experience employing test-driven development (TDD)
- Experience handling terabyte size datasets
