What You’ll Be Doing
As a Business Systems Analyst on the US Risk Technology team, you’ll be at the heart of the next-generation analytical tools we’re building to transform CIBC’s risk management capabilities and enable our bank’s continued growth. Working with quantitative analysts and the wider technology team, you’ll elicit and document requirements, assess gaps with our current capabilities, and design new solutions to meet business needs. Once in production, you’ll analyze and track enhancement requests and defect remediation. We’re building a new team and hiring several business analysts with a mix of seniority levels. Responsibilities and compensation will vary depending on your experience. This is a hybrid position, up to 100% remote. Our business stakeholders are primarily located at our US headquarters in Chicago. We’ll consider candidates located anywhere in the US where CIBC has a presence.
How You’ll Succeed
-
Planning and Coordination – interact with quantitative analysts, project managers, developers, and vendors to gather requirements, recommend a design, and communicate progress.
-
Business Savvy – understand the connection between clients’ needs, our bank’s risk management practices, and technology solutions.
-
Technical Skills – apply knowledge of data analytics, the risk model implementation lifecycle, and risk management in a banking context.
-
Communication and Persuasion – share ideas, build consensus, and write with impact.
-
Relationships – develop trusted working relationships with business stakeholders and technology partners.
-
Leadership – for those candidates with significant industry experience, your responsibilities will include training and mentoring more junior colleagues.
Who You Are
-
You can demonstrate at least one year of experience working on data projects in the financial services industry with a relevant post-secondary degree. Familiarity with capital stress testing, credit risk models, and regulatory change projects would be particularly relevant.
-
It’s an asset if you have experience with Databricks, Microsoft Azure, Power BI, Tableau, or another business intelligence platform. Knowledge of Python or R would be valuable.
-
You can demonstrate experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to elicit and capture business requirements, either through the traditional waterfall model or an agile method. Familiarity with an issue management system like JIRA would be an asset.
-
You embrace and champion change. You’ll continuously evolve your thinking and the way you work in order to deliver your best.
-
Your influence makes an impact. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You inspire outcomes by making yourself heard.
-
You’re digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace leading-edge technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends.
-
You’re driven by collective success. You know that collaboration can transform a good idea into a great one. You understand the power of an inclusive team that enjoys working together to create a shared vision.
-
Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork, and accountability.

What you need to know

-
Completing all annual Corporate Mandatory Training and Testing modules, as well as any additional business-specific modules, as required and employing the learnings in daily activities and undertakings
-
Escalating matters through one of the appropriate channels identified in the CIBC Code of Conduct (i.e., HR, management, Ethics Hotline, Whistleblower, etc.) upon observing activities that may be inconsistent with CIBC’s policies, frameworks, guidelines, processes and controls
-
Speaking up if witnessing behaviors that drive poor or unfair outcomes for clients, team members or other stakeholders
-
Escalating matters that can result in adverse market practices and outcomes, thereby negatively impacting CIBC’s reputation as a leading financial institution.
