What will you do at Ciena?
You will join the growing Blue Planet Analytics team. Our team is developing an adaptive network driven by Artificial Intelligence that will disrupt the telecommunications industry.
We want to hire professionals who seek to work on world-class problems, with skills in data science, software engineering and/or telecommunications. Since we are inventing new products that have never been made before, we are looking for individuals who can learn about new technologies continuously and tackle hard problems with minimal mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Develop intelligent data-driven streaming applications
- Participate in all phases of the development cycle – plan, design, and implementation
- Collaborate with other technical leads and architects on system architecture and design
- Influence architectural decisions, participate in design/code reviews, test plans and technology strategy
- Work closely and optimally with other software development teams as well as product line management, architecture and product verification teams
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement in software engineering practices and product quality
Experience/skills
- Proficient with Scala or Java programming (Python an asset)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience architecting web-based software applications using Scala or Java and REST APIs (Play framework an asset)
- Interest and ability to quickly learn and ramp-up on new languages and technologies
- Understanding of big-data concepts and technologies such as Apache Spark, Flink, Hadoop, NiFi
- Experience with machine learning concepts and frameworks (TensorFlow, Torch, Prophet, MXNet, Scikit-learn, etc.)
- Experience with Docker containers, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD an asset
- Experience with telecom networks an asset
- Experience working in Agile development environments
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- 5+ years experience in a software development role
