The Business Senior Analyst is an intermediate-level position responsible for liaising between business users and technologists to exchange information in a concise, logical and understandable way in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to continuous iterative exploration and investigation of business performance and other measures to gain insight and drive business planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals through partnership with decision makers, systems owners and end users
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions
  • Analyze business processes, gaps in capabilities, as well as appropriate data sources, interfaces and process changes required to address capability gaps
  • Generate and compile reports based on findings, including probable causes and potential solutions to systems issues
  • Provide advice and counsel related to technology or operations of the business, ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
  • Filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex material from multiple sources and perform other duties and functions as assigned
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in business analysis or systems analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use complex analytical, interpretive and problem-solving techniques
  • Proven interpersonal, diplomatic and influencing skills
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience


Overview

The Global Strategy and Re-engineering Business Analyst is accountable for managing the TTS High Value Payments De-Risking the Bank book of work to completion. This person can motivate cross functional partners to deliver on a common goal. Provide clear communications of progress of the book of work. Strives to understand the value add of a project to appropriately prioritize within the dynamic backlog. Is fearless in bringing forth risks and issues for fast and timely resolution. This person fosters collaboration amongst their partners to ensure alignment.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for tracking the status of projects in the existing book of work throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Identify and report on risks, proactively anticipate risks, and create risk mitigation plans.

  • Escalate risks and issues as appropriate to quickly identify and implement solutions to keep project delivery on track.

  • Manage ingestion of new project submissions into the backlog to be prioritized to form the upcoming book of work.

  • Work closely with cross functional partners and across lines of business to maintain alignment for solution development and project execution.

  • Responsible for influencing and motivating cross functional partners to foster a strong environment of collaboration and time sensitivity to deliver on the strategic transformation initiatives.

  • Learn and understand the various high-risk processes that exist in the bank.

  • Able to analyze and trend data to identify opportunities for closing process risks and realizing efficiencies.

  • Create reporting that demonstrates the value add of the various projects that make up the book of work.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years banking experience

  • Experience delivering transformation and re-engineering initiatives in a multi-national banking environment.

  • Ability to lead and motivate teams across multiple geographies.

  • Consistently able to communicate information and ideas in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.

  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Suite of Applications.

  • Intermediate skills with JIRA.

  • Knowledge of payments and receivables.

  • Knowledge of various types of high-risk processes in the bank.

  • Knowledge of Citi’s payment processors; Flexcube, CitiFT, etc.

  • Knowledge of channels like: CitiDirect and CitiDocs.

  • SAFe Agile certifications preferred.

  • Experience working in a Lean environment.

  • Lean and or project management certifications preferred.


Education

BS or commensurate work experience


Job Background/context

The role resides in the Technology Global Strategy and Re-engineering team for the Global Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) business. This role will support the ongoing multi-year strategy for transforming the bank to a simpler, digital first bank. This includes supporting the current initiatives to address high value risks within the bank as well as initiatives focused on simplifying processes within the bank. This role supports risk remediation efforts; which include addressing regulatory concerns, elimination of manual touchpoints, standardization of manual controls for processing, and automation efforts. This role is cross functional and requires close engagement with risk management, Technology and Operations.

The key areas of focus are as follows.


High value risks initiatives:
able to quickly understand the risk in processes that exist across various regions during process reviews with Operations, reviewing risk events, and surveying Operations teams for self-identified risk points. Evaluate the submissions to the backlog of priority initiatives against our capacity restraints, to move submissions to be added to the backlog and prioritized accordingly. Work closely with cross functional teams to define epics and identify best solutions. Motivate partners to deliver project tasks timely and mitigate risks proactively to achieve timely project delivery. Track and report on progress regularly.


Simplification initiatives:
Understand from partners and analyze data for opportunities for simplifying the bank. Work closely with cross functional teams to define epics and identify best solutions. Define project priorities through impact analysis, level of risk reduction, and engagement with senior management and align with technology partners for capacity planning. Motivate partners to deliver project tasks timely and mitigate risks proactively to achieve timely project delivery. Track and report on progress regularly.
