About Technology Services
The Technology Services Department (TS) of the City and County of Denver is using state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies to deliver and improve the systems, applications and operations that we deliver to our customers. Technology Services supports the people, agencies and ideas that make the City and County of Denver world class city. About the Data Tools and Governance Division
The Data Tools and Governance Division connects both internal and external customers to information and services by providing the access, framework, tools and expertise required to fully leverage the City’s data and information assets. Data is dedicated to transforming Denver’s access to and use of data to drive strategy, policy, and operations. The security team plans and implements security governance and controls, monitors and responds to cyber threats and vulnerabilities.

As the Data & Analytics Manager in Technology Services, you will be responsible for leading a talented team comprised of data architects, data engineers, and data analysts. The team is dedicated to enabling city agencies to deliver exceptional services by empowering them with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Specifically, as the Data & Analytics Manager, you will:
  • Actively manage a team of seven data professionals to achieve strategic priorities and performance goals.
  • Develop cohesion amongst team members to positively impact team performance.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to standardize, promote, and evangelize the responsible and ethical use of data needed to improve city performance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert of the Data Hub, our enterprise-class data warehouse and analytics solution.
  • Leverage our data to support performance initiatives within Technology Services and across city agencies.
  • Assist with the build, development, and maintenance of data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards, and performance metrics that support key business decisions.
  • Advance an enterprise-wide information model and data services catalog that optimizes logical data access, data quality, and data utilization.
  • Drive data initiatives and efforts to improve citywide decision-making.
  • Partner with the Information Security and Data Protection teams to implement controls, policies, and standards that meet organizational expectations while still complying with regulatory requirements.
  • Present operational updates, issues, and proposals to directors and executive leadership on a regular basis.
  • Help govern and support a culture that manages data as an enterprise asset.
  • Cultivate, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with data-centric user and peer groups.
  • Oversee the development of curriculum to improve citywide data literacy and mature our data and analytics capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement on the team.
About You
We are looking for someone with some or all the following skills and experience:
  • Academic: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, IT Administration, or other related fields.
  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of management experience leading technical or operational teams.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary teams in challenging endeavors.
  • Communication: Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage audiences and motivate a team.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
    • Exposure to data governance, data warehouse, or data engineering technologies.

  • Education requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional level information technology work.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience
