Data Modeler
Job Description Details
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Designs and develop workbooks, datasets and complex calculations utilizing Microsoft Excel and VBA
- Creates logic for data models that meet specific business requirements
- Assists with requirements for system integrations
- Liaisons with IT, Business users, Vendors or any subject matter experts required to provide requirements and evaluate changes to specific Tax-related financial services calculations
- Performs data extraction/acquisition from various sources for inclusion in a data model calculation or for reporting purposes inside a model
- Fixes issues with calculations with input from subject matters exports; also fixes issues with data duplication
- Assists in the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Firm’s Tax Processing Services technology
- Prioritizes and execute data inquiries, including analyzing data and identifying trends or anomalies
- Follows detailed procedures and ensures accuracy of calculations and data by following and building process documentation
- Assists in the development of user acceptance testing based on business requirements
- Assists in the future planning and re-engineering of all data models and identifies dependencies or integrations with other systems
- Leads offshore technical team for development
Preferred Qualifications & Skills Experience
- Advanced (10+ years of related experience) VBA developer required
- Bachelor’s degree required in Data Analytics, Computer Science or related field
- Accounting or Financial Services experience a plus
- Knowledge of industry software (Thomson Reuters and Wolters Kluwer software) a plus
- Basic competence in Power BI and writing SQL statements
- Alteryx experience a plus
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Outlook, and Word)
- Detail-oriented and able to consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to understand complex financial concepts and calculations
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment and adapt to change
- Remote work experience strongly preferred
