Roles and Responsibilities
We are excited to invite applications for the position of Data Engineer within our Colgate Connected Health team. Operating within the world’s leading Oral Care Company, Colgate Connected Health is a small, dedicated group of people inspired by the possibility of demonstrating new technology to make everyday life healthier. We debuted our E1 toothbrush in 2018 exclusively through Appleit’s a true breakthrough and only the beginning.
We have a number of exciting projects in the works, and we are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team to help realize our vision. The ideal candidate has experience designing and building ETL pipelines. They must have strong experience using a variety of data wrangling methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing ETL jobs, and creating/running simulations. They must have a proven track record to drive business results with their data-based insights. They must be comfortable working with a wide range of partners and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with partners to improve business outcomes.
Who are you…
You are a function specialist :
- Responsible for leading, designing and developing data quality and conversion solutions to support implementation of strategic Connected Health initiatives.
- Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modeling and finding trends in data sets and developing algorithms to help make raw data more useful to the enterprise.
You connect the dots :
- Able to translate business and technical requirements into Architectural components.
- Support Connected Health platforms servicing worldwide Colgate Operations
- Should be able to work with structured data as well as unstructured data
- Design & develop solutions using standard data migration methodology & tool-set for data extraction, mapping, scoping, transformation, validation & loads.
You are a collaborator :
- Work with multi-functional teams in a dynamic environment to design, develop, implement robust ETL pipelines for Enterprise DW.
- You will work in collaboration with Data Scientists and provide the vital support to deploy analytics programs, machine learning and statistical methods.
You are an innovator:
- Research and accurately evaluate sources of information to resolve possible limitations in reliability or usability
- Establish the appropriate scalable architecture to extract value from our data including integration with other internal data sources.
What you’ll need…(Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering or similar degree.
- 5+years experience in manipulating data sets, building and handling data lake / data warehouse and developing ETL pipelines.
- Strong experience with test driven development methodologies.
- Strong oral & written communication skills with an ability to express technical concepts in business terms and business needs in technical specifications
- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
- Strong analytical skillsstrong problem-solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and optimally evaluates information / data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve them.
What you’ll need…(Preferred)
- Design, develop, implements robust ETL pipelines for Enterprise DW and data marts ingesting both structured and unstructured data.
- Strong understanding of AWS or GCP environment (PaaS, IaaS) and experience in working with hybrid models.
- Strong in Data Architecture and management of Data Warehouse (DW), data lake, data governance and MDM architecture.
- Programming experience in Python, SQL, NoSQL.
- Familiarity with distributed technologies like Hadoop and Spark
- Experience with BI tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Good knowledge of DW metadata concepts.
- Knowledge of wearables technology preferred.
- Familiarity with data privacy concepts (GDPR, PCI, HIPAA)
- Knowledge on serverless architecture and deployment concepts
- Exposure in crafting pipelines to support Machine Learning or AI architecture.
