As a Data Engineer, you will report to the Manager of Data Services and will be responsible for developing Data Engineering solutions that conform to group standards, budgets and agreed estimated timelines. You will be responsible for planning and designing new software and data applications, editing new and existing applications and implementing, testing and debugging de๏ฌned software components. Documents all development activity. Perform production DevOps support as part of an on-call rotation, and work with moderate mentorship in own area of knowledge.
Core Responsibilities

Analyzes and settles integration needs.

Evaluates and plans software designs, test results and technical manuals.

Reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.

Programs new software, data applications and supports new applications under development and the customization of current applications.

Edits and reviews technical requirements’ documentation.

Works with Quality Assurance team to resolve if applications ๏ฌt speci๏ฌcation and technical requirements.

Displays knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills and their application in the area of speci๏ฌed engineering specialty.

Displays knowledge of and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills.

Displays in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply project management skills in an Agile Software Development environment.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of signi๏ฌcance.

Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance.

Available to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as vital part of an on-call rotation.

Skills & Requirements
-
B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, Business or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Hands-on experience in Spark, SQL, Linux, and Unix shell scripting or Python.

Hands-on experience in ETL design and development.
Some of the Specific technologies we use:

Planning, designing and development of high-volume compute, parallel processing and ETL workflows using Spark, PySpark, scala, and other compute frameworks on Big Data in on-premise (Kubernetes) or public cloud environments.

Data warehouse development on a major RDBMS Teradata, Oracle, SQL server).

SQL and query optimization experience.

Continuous integration/deployment processes and tools such as Concourse, GitHub, Jenkins (optional), CodeDeploy & CodePipeline

Scripting languages such as bash, Python, VBScript, Perl.

AWS, Databricks, and other cloud technologies.

Big Data compute design patterns and efficient data modeling practices.

Teradata, Hadoop, and/or Informatica/SSIS equivalent.
