Job Summary

Responsible for transforming large, complex data into consumable business databases and applications for self-service analytics and reporting. Create system architecture, design and specification using in-depth engineering skills and knowledge to solve difficult development problems and achieve engineering goals. Determine and source appropriate data for a given analysis. Work with data modelers/analysts to understand the business problems they are trying to solve then create or augment data assets to feed their analysis. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

• Support and advance the BigQuery based Data Layer in our cost reporting dashboard solution
• Create data pipelines and SQL queries to use spend and configuration data to provide detailed cost and configuration information to cloud users.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of activities, processes and tooling necessary to enable a multi-phase (inform, optimize, operate) FinOps capability using the recognized (FinOps Foundation) ‘Crawl, Walk, Run’ methodology
• Collation of accurate and timely billing and spend data across our public cloud estate

Employees at all levels are expected to:

• Experience in the design and delivery of SQL based database solutions and in writing SQL queries to analyse business data.
• Experience in using visualization tools (Data Studio, Looker, Quicksight etc.) to create dashboards (ideally Looker)
• Experience in developing dashboard pages through LookML and storing under source control to be deployed through code pipelines version control.
• Awareness and knowledge of AWS and GCP products and services, what they can be used for and how they work, and how they are billed.
• A ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to learn new skills and technologies
