Job Summary
Responsible for coordinating the operation of several complex data base files. Under minimal supervision performs aspects of Database Administration including, hardware and software evaluation and installation, logical and physical database design and implementation, structured testing of database designs, security administration, backup and recovery planning, performance and tuning, research and evaluation of new tools and techniques and development of policies, standards and procedures. Participates with the implementation and support of development systems, QA systems and production systems at data centers, including all network and systems-related infrastructure components. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities:
- Looking for a self-motivated, self-starter, fast learner to evaluate new frameworks
- Monitor availability and performance of production and development NoSQL databases and servers.
- Install new database releases and related software tools to evaluate in CI environment, eventually promote to production.
- Apply software patches and upgrades to server software for NoSQL database to stay in compliance with security standards and performance.
- Perform and automate daily database maintenance, user assistance and troubleshooting.
- Sound knowledge about hardware (CPU, memory, disk, network, Firewalls etc).
- Continually improve operational processes and procedures
- Analyze and resolve complex technical problems, including performance tuning, and debugging.
- Some NoSQL data modeling experience
- Monitor database backups and maintain automated disaster recovery procedures.
- Plan database and server level capacity according to statistics and user requests.
- Work through disaster recovery plans with other groups and departments.
- Communicate/work effectively in a team environment.
- Provide 24×7 on-call production support
- Serve as a guide and mentor for junior-level engineers. Provides technical leadership and consultation with regards to practices, procedures and techniques.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary
Skill Set – Cassandra is Mandatory and scylla is nice to have
knowlegde of Terraform, ansible, splunk/elk is also needed

Education
Bachelor’s Degree
While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
