The Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4), a state agency that collects, analyzes, and reports health care data, is seeking a high-level statistical analyst in the Harrisburg area. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

As a Statistical Analyst 2 you will develop project or study plans to meet expected objectives and collect, classify, and analyze data regarding Agency programs. You will access large complex data files including PHC4 hospital discharge data and other specific program databases via personal computer and the web using various software (Excel, Access, SAS) to develop various statistical products and conduct analysis. Statistical Analysts also determine sampling techniques applicable to the project or study including the determination of confidence limits and select appropriate statistical techniques or methods; and define terms and codes to insure uniformity in the collection, analysis, and presentation of the data.Other duties include evaluate data received to develop or revise hypothesis, analyze data using statistical or mathematical techniques such as regression analysis, non-parametric methods, t and chi-square tests and analysis of variance, and prepare narrative, graphical, and statistical reports to explain data collection and analysis process, the data meanings, and conclusions and findings, which can be drawn from the data. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment.Work hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with 60-minute lunch.Parking is provided by the agency.Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONSRequirements: A bachelor’s degree with coursework in statistics or mathematics is required, a Master’s degree is preferred. Considerable experience using SAS, Microsoft Office, and statistical analysis including mathematical techniques such as regression analysis, non-parametric methods, t and chi-square tests, and analysis of variance are also required. A minimum of one year of experience using SAS.A minimum of one year of experience using Microsoft Office.A minimum of one year of experience using statistical analysis including mathematical techniques such as regression analysis, non-parametric methods, t and chi-square tests, and analysis of variance.Knowledge of SQL, health care, payer claims data, and experience with technical reporting is preferred, not required.
