Job Description
GSSA, LLC, a progressive political consulting firm, is actively seeking an experienced data professional to fill the position of Data Scientist or Data Analyst, based on experience. The data position reports to the Director and is responsible for gathering, assessing, and presenting data from voter databases, public opinion polls, the U.S. Census Bureau and other sources; identifying and interpreting meaningful patterns; conducting randomized control trials (experiments); and compiling visualizations and reports. The successful candidate will be able to not only analyze data but also communicate findings in a compelling way, turning complex datasets into insights that drive campaign strategy and decision-making. 2-3 years or cycles of organizing and/or political experience preferred.
Position Responsibilities
- Compile and manipulate datasets
- Perform statistical analyses, identify and interpret trends (Data Scientist)
- Work with vendors and partners to fulfill data needs and execute programs
- Design and execute randomized control trials (experiments) (Data Scientist)
- Develop infographics, maps, and other data visualizations as needed
- Compile reports and presentations
- Propose and implement systems for managing and improving data processes
- Required Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of basic statistics
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in R and/or other data science languages (e.g., Python)
- Ability to create effective data tools and visualizations
- Strong commitment to progressive values and causes
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage several projects simultaneously, and adhere
- to strict deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to audiences of varying
- levels of technical expertise
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Willing to have a flexible work schedule
- 2-3 years of organizing and/or political experience preferred.
- Understanding of and respect for requirements of confidentiality.
Compensation
The Data Scientist position is a full-time, salaried position. The salary range is $75,000 – $120,000, paid on a semi-monthly payroll with the availability of direct deposit.
