Summary

This position is located at Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Office of Research. The purpose of this position is to provide analytical, research and technical support to economic and market research, policy development, and rule-making initiatives conducted by Research, Markets and Regulations (RMR) Division.

Responsibilities

As a Research Analyst (Interdisciplinary), you will collect and analyze data from primary sources using current economic, statistical, and behavioral methods, develop reliable reports, and prepare economic, statistical, financial, and behavioral analyses on well-defined questions.

The following are the duties of this position at the CN-53, broadly equivalent to the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Select,modify and apply a wide variety of economic and statistical analysis and modeling techniques that are used by economists, psychologists, and statisticians for research.
  • Make significant modifications in existing data-gathering and statistical reporting procedures, and assist in the review and adoption of new procedures, applying in-depth knowledge of the source data and complex and at times very complex data processing techniques.
  • Develop, maintain, and administer shared databases and define and develop SOPs and procedures for data handling.
  • Keep abreast of and write reports on economic, financial, or behavioral developments in market areas, and perform systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of economic, financial and statistical data to support findings.
