Job Detail:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Data Analyst will provide foundational support for the newly unified Data Architecture and Insights teams. Within this role, the Analyst will manage CMA’s data sources and leverage them to conduct analysis, build consumer models, and develop dashboards. This role will collaborate with the cross-department Data Team to maintain daily operation of the data warehouse (data sources, data cleanliness, data integrity, and data accessibility) including assisting in the holistic Data Architecture strategy. As a dedicated data steward, the person will coordinate data governance policies, training, and support the work of departments across CMA in using data well and accurately.

This position is based in Nashville, TN and requires a minimum of 3 days of in-person work per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of CMA’s data warehouse including maintaining existing and future data source integrations and relative data dictionaries
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for data entry, cleanliness, and use/accessibility of data to ensure data integrity across CMA
  • Oversight of master data management processes within the data warehouse ensuring that records are merging correctly and the produced master data records are clean
  • Collaboratively develop and maintain insightful and clear dashboards across all CMA departments using a wide range of data sources that allow our team to easily comprehend and act on key insights
  • Organize and model various data sets to increase the use case of business processes
  • Query and analyze data sets to report data insights that address business problems and opportunities
  • Guide and organize all methods and processes for data capture across CMA including advising departments on the types of data they are collecting
  • Develop, manage, and analyze industry data sets for internal and external use including, but not limited to, music consumption, media consumption, TV ratings and metrics, and other music and entertainment consumption patterns
  • Provide insights and profiles regarding consumer audiences, brands and product category purchases to support opportunities relative to the Country lifestyle and consumer spending
  • Manage data governance and privacy policies
  • Fulfill and track requests for data from warehouse
  • Identify and address areas for process improvement and automation in our data flows
  • Collaborate with Data Team, CMA departments, and external vendors to accomplish functions
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • BS or BA in Business, Market Research, Marketing, Analytics, Data, Statistics, Finance, Economics or related field, or equivalent market research or strategic planning experience
  • 2+ year of experience working in research, data, analytics, or insights fields
  • Experience using SQL to model, query, and analyze data (experience with Redshift is a plus)
  • Ability to understand relational databases, data storage, and data lakes / warehouses
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and data modeling
  • Data visualization experience required (Tableau, Power BI or similar tools)
  • High proficiency with Excel required
  • Knowledge of syndicated data sources that support strategic analysis (i.e. Nielsen, Luminate, GfK/Simmons, etc.) is a plus
  • Music, media or entertainment experience is a plus

  • Effective at and enjoy teaching, training, and serving others as one of the primary functions of the job
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written, with ability to shift from technical to non-technical language based on audience
  • Passionate about building stories from data and analysis
  • Experience in deriving and sharing insights from data via visualizations
  • Experience with unstructured data and leading quality assurance initiatives to improve data quality
  • Ability to understand, organize, and manage growing data sets, knowledge of relational databases and data properties
  • Keen eye to identify problems, ideate potential solutions, and ultimately resolve problems
  • Flourish when balancing multiple projects and priorities
  • Team player that can collaborate and work effectively with a variety of personalities
  • Be curious to think creatively and critically
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly
  • Exceptional attention to detail
