Basic Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Power Bi Engineer is to design, develop, and optimize a large-scale dashboard and data warehouse reporting environment. The Power BI Engineer will help facilitate business adoption of the technology and possess strategic and creative problem-solving skills to fully leverage the technology’s growing capabilities, and has sound technical knowledge of the Power BI platform, including the development of data sets, data sources and complex reporting solutions, and the ability to customize them to help our business grow and become more efficient.
Essential Functions
- Define and document best practices and strategies regarding PowerBi application deployment and maintenance to include workflows, processes, and standards.
- To engage with BI developer, business analysts, client service teams and technical teams to understand needs for projects to create necessary environment and user groups.
- Keep up to date on upgrade schedules, releases, and new features.
- Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design.
- Oversee the deployment of related SQL functions, data entities and data connectors.
- To work closely with internal IT, Server, Security teams to troubleshoot including reviewing logs and resolve issues with production/non-production environments.
- Monitor server activity and logs to identify possible performance issues with data sets and reports.
- Assist in integrating Data Warehouses to Redshift and Power BI.
- Assist with implementing Power BI apps/reports, data sets and dashboards.

Reporting Relationships
- Manager, Database Administration.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience with Power BI and related technologies
- 2 years of experience with data warehouses
- SQL Query Writing knowledge (SP, View, Tuning)
- Experience creating Power BI datasets and dataflows and reports.
- Excel knowledge, including Power BI excel plugin, PowerPivot, and formulas
- Demonstrated success in developing and deploying enterprise-level solutions
- Experience in designing and developing reporting and advanced analytics solutions
- Familiarity with data integration (ETL) solutions and logical data modeling
- Good understanding of Power BI tenant, on-prem data gateway, workspace, and capacity settings
