How you’ll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
Delta Air Lines is seeking a Sr. Analyst, Accounting to join its accounting team to assist with accounting and the close process. The successful candidate will:
- Have a working knowledge of GAAP and how it is applied to accounting processes
- Understand control processes, work directly with internal and external auditors to provide requested information and support, and be able to assist with and perform annual risk assessments
- Prepare accounting entries through use of data models and research in the SAP financial system
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, general ledger research, and variance analysis
- Review and document controls and accounting processes, while seeking out opportunities to automate, increase efficiency, and streamline existing processes
- Review and summarize contracts, leases, and other legal documents to support accounting
- Work with Financial Reporting to facilitate internal and external reporting processes including monthly preparation and quality control of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow), internal reporting packages, and 10Q/10K disclosures
- Provide supporting data needed to prepare weekly and monthly forecasts for corporate divisions
What You Need To Succeed (minimum Qualifications)
- Minimum two years relevant experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and build working relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Continuous Improvement mindset, looks for ways to improve process efficiency and demonstrates flexibility in a changing environment
- Exhibits a positive attitude and inquisitive approach to problem solving
- The candidate should also possess a proven ability to work in a team environment and should be detail-oriented, self-directing, and have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on deadlines.
- Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred Qualifications)
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or business
- Advanced Degree in accounting or business
- Licensed CPA or CPA Candidate
- Experience with Delta’s financial tools such as SAP, Oracle, Tableau, Alteryx, Microsoft Suite including Power BI, and/or SQL
