Deltas Customer Data Strategy team is seeking a Data Governance Specialist to help craft and implement Deltas Customer Data Governance strategy. This role will be the main point of contact for Customer Data Governance activities including defining ownership roles, implementing and maintaining a data catalog, supervising data lineage, usage, and quality, crafting and implementing policies for data security, and documenting/teaching standard processes to other data organizations within Delta. This individual will also work closely with IT to influence the overall customer data architecture as well as the technology vital to efficiently implement the governance strategy. This position requires both business and technical skills to efficiently complete cross-divisional initiatives.
The successful candidate will also help maintain a future-looking customer data roadmap that is aligned with the enterprises key business goals as Delta continues to build out its customer data flywheel for new and reusable data-driven capabilities.
This position will be located at our corporate headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
Daily Tasks:
Implement the Customer Data Governance strategy, including defining and adapting that strategy as the data evolves
Manage the access and usage of customer data, including advising data consumers to the accurate data attributes and how to use those attributes
Develop control structures around customer data to ensure quality and accuracy of data
Ensure that both core customer data and any downstream variations of those data enforce the data governance standards set forth
Build tools to allow quick delivery status updates on the quality of customer data
Implement and maintain a data catalog that allows for quick searches to find data assets
Work with Data Engineers to develop, prototype, and build new customer data sources related to Deltas major initiatives
Support executive decision making by performing ad-hoc analyses
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, Business, Mathematics, a related field, or 2-3 years of significant work experience required in a Business Analysis, Data Analytics, and/or Data Creation role
High level of proficiency data querying/modeling and understanding of how Delta uses data to drive business decisions, analytics, and within visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel, Python)
Able to understand business needs and bridge the gap between those needs and IT
Strong business and technical competence and understanding of Deltas travel ribbon and how we interact with customers
Understanding an application of large data governance programs and big data frameworks, such as cloud infrastructure design and deployments, preferably AWS, data lakes, etc.
Good project management, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Able to build good interpersonal relationships with business partners, business analysts, technology teams, and leadership
Ability to work well with diverse groups in a time critical and team environment with minimal direction.
Be results oriented and capable of meeting or exceeding deadlines with attention to detail and follow through.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
- At least 4+ as a data analyst, engineer, or business analyst with validated understanding of how to build insights from data sets
Experience in data modeling, data manipulation, and crafting enterprise-wide data sets, including big data solutions like Spark, NoSQL, DynamoDB, etc.
