Deltas Customer Data Strategy team is seeking a Manager to be responsible for the implementation of the data strategy around foundational customer data, a unified customer profile, and integration and democratization of customer data across Delta. This individual will lead a team responsible crafting a coordinated customer data environment which has a solid foundation and ensuring the data is readily available for consumption.
A successful Manager will help define, maintain, and complete a future-looking customer data roadmap that is aligned with the enterprises key business goals. This role will also be responsible for the Customer Data Governance Strategy which will include defining access, controls, and data quality standards. This position will lead the implementation of the product strategy for Deltas customer data flywheel to build new and reusable data-driven capabilities centered around customer data.
This position requires strong leadership skills and creativity to implement cross-divisional initiatives with teams from across the commercial organization, operational teams, and IT. The successful candidate will act as data business owner, project manager, and domain authority for a variety of projects.
This position will be located at our corporate headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
Daily tasks:
Lead and develop a team of 3-4 total individuals, which are a mixture of Product Managers, Data Governance Analysts, and Data Engineers with a good mix of commercial foresight and analytical and technical skills.
Implement Deltas customer data strategy and maintain a future-looking data roadmap that supports customer focused initiatives from across the enterprise. Prioritize the roadmap to deliver value quickly
Understand Commercial and Operational customer data needs, what data their priorities need, and use that information to integrate new customer data into centralized customer data model
Build initial hypotheses for customer data definitions and calculations/transformations. Drive enterprise concurrence on those data definitions/calculations to build context around the customers experience
Develop, prototype, and build new data sources related to the major initiatives of Delta
Identify areas of opportunity for data federation and implement those changes to make reporting and analytics more seamless
Partner with IT to implement improvements and new additions to Customer data
Implement data access and controls, data quality standards and maintain data catalogs
Build and deliver training for Customer Data, including both instructor-led and self-paced training materials
Inspire changes to Deltas operational and analytical data ecosystem to improve Customer data, including improving overall data quality and availability
Support executive decision making by performing ad-hoc analyses
Communicate and coordinate with key partners across the organization to share priorities, roadmap, and key findings
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, Business, Mathematics or related field 3-5 years of meaningful work experience required in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, and or Data Creation
Master’s degree and/or 2+ years validated experience leading teams in data analytics, data science, or a related field strongly preferred
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
Able to understand business needs and bridge the gap between those needs and IT
Strong business and technical competence and knowledge of Deltas travel ribbon and customer interactions
High level of proficiency data querying/modeling and understanding of how Delta uses data to drive business decisions, analytics, and within visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel, Python)
Understanding of data model designs, how consumers access data, and how to craft for future flexibility
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure design and deployments, preferably AWS, and API consumption
Confirmed leadership experience in leading sophisticated processes and has a proven record of delivering results working across various commercial, operational, and technology divisions.
Ability to work well with diverse groups in a time sensitive and team environment with minimal direction.
Be results oriented and capable of meeting or exceeding deadlines with attention to detail and follow through.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
- At least 4+ as a leader of data analysts, engineers, or scientists with demonstrable understanding of how to build insights from large data sets
Proven understanding of data modeling, data manipulation, and creating enterprise-wide data sets, including big data solutions like Spark, NoSQL, DynamoDB, etc.
