Job Title – Assistant Vice President Control Testing – Embedded Risk Team
Location – Pune
Role Description
The Risk Team is responsible for supporting Operations with first line operational risk management across IB & CRU operations. The role will require to execute day-to-day operational risk & control testing work and contributes to the delivery of the risk assessment reviews. This is a high visibility role requiring ability to work independently with limited oversight, learn complex concepts quickly, build strong relationships, working collaboratively with business teams globally. Independent in judgment and with unquestionable personal integrity and ethic. Able to challenge and be challenged whilst maintaining the highest levels of professionalism. The testing lead will have a key role in the delivery of finding closure validation, supporting NFRM findings management policy and implementation across IB & CRU Operations.

Your key responsibilities
- Perform an independent validation of remediations, controls and action plans to provide an assurance on both design and operating effectiveness.
- Authenticate findings life cycle event requests in line with the standards highlighted in findings management policy
- Facilitate an independent risk and control framework, challenge control weakness and deliver transparent risk based oversight.
- Advise and assist in mitigating risks that arise from weakness, errors and external event demands (Audit/Regulatory), in partnership with the business line.
- Reviews and provides expert opinions on action plans provided by the Operations teams, helping them develop robust remediation plans. Proactively question and challenge Operations to identify areas of potential weakness.
- Delivering and assisting in operational testing work and contributing to the delivery of risk assessment reviews in line with Deutsche Bank NFRM RCA (Risk & Control Assessment) framework.
- Understand the impact of errors, timely escalation, remediation and lessons learnt to facilitate reduction of operational losses or near misses. Manage incident reporting through the agreed NFRM framework and work extensively with the business line to identify root causes and implement robust remediation plans. Ensure senior stakeholders are informed and that corrective measures are assigned, tracked and closed.
Your skills and experience
- Experience in controls/operational risk function (minimum 8 to 10 years) / internal audit or big 4 audit experience in the financial services industry
- Very good knowledge of auditing standards and concepts. Understanding of risk management and control frameworks in a global banking control environment, with sound knowledge of banking activities, products, risk management techniques and regulatory requirements.
- Experience covering Non-Financial Risk topics or Enterprise Risk Management topics preferred. Good understanding of global banking control environment and compliance issues in the banking/finance industry.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills, communicating with clarity, both orally and in writing, in a logical order and structured approach. Fluent in English (written and verbal).
- CA/MBA (or equivalent) or higher from an accredited college or university.
