JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this role will be to support the business systems analysis activities by meeting with business stakeholders and identifying their technical needs, creating technical user stories, creating supporting documentation that will aid in the creation and testing of the user stories as well as assisting with backlog grooming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary responsibilities include gathering and documenting of requirements, performing systems analysis, modeling data flows between IT systems, creating and updating use case diagrams and preparing technical specification of application functionality.
- Liaison between the business and IT teams, acting as a consultant to both internal and external clients, and also as a functioning member of a globally distributed software development project team.
- Interface with the Business Owners or Project Sponsors to document the project vision and scope for small to moderately complex projects.
- Identify key barriers/core problems and apply problem solving skills to deal creatively with complex situations.
- Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, process descriptions, use cases, competitive product analysis, and/or workflow analysis.
- Lead requirements analysis and verification, ensuring deliverables are complete, consistent, feasible, unambiguous, and that they conform to standards.
- Transform user and business requirements into high quality system requirements / user stories for use during project realization.
- Write requirements specifications and systems specifications according to standard templates.
- Assess and evaluate processes and system improvement opportunities in close collaboration with the design and engineering teams.
- Use Standard methodologies for technical system documentation according to company standards.
- Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
- Ensure best practice use of application by keeping abreast with technology to ensure optimal performance of the applications. Recommend system designs which would enhance future IT systems.
- Assist in agile backlog grooming.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required Information Systems, Engineering, Logistics or other related field.
- 5 – 6 years of relevant experience.
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English is required.
- Experience with gathering and documenting requirements from internal or external stakeholders.
- Analytical skills required to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources.
- Must be creative and be able to display creative problem-solving skills.
- Experience with UML and modeling tools, in addition to Requirements Management Tools.
- Experience working on software development projects.
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming and experience in utilizing SQL for data analysis is preferred.
- Knowledge of monolithic and service based architecture are a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Availability to travel up to 20%.
- Physical demands are consistent with a professional office setting.
- Regular sitting at work station for 25 – 75% of the work shift.
- Frequent standing and walking.
