Optum Rx is committed to equity in pharmacy care services with a particular focus on affordability, access, & advocacy for better pharmacy practice. Combining a deep knowledge of clinical analytics and a commitment to health equity, the director of health equity data analytics will lead a team and roadmap of analytics to identify health inequities in pharmacy care services, inform product and service offerings to address health inequities, and measure progress toward reducing health inequities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Optum Rx’s Health Equity lead and other Optum Rx leaders to define and prioritize health equity analytic roadmap
  • Contribute to and influence a cross-division Optum Enterprise Health Equity workgroup with a mission to accelerate enterprise-wide health equity initiatives by developing an interconnecting thread around data and analytic infrastructure to drive greater impact with our customers and communities we serve
  • Provide thought leadership on how to think about, collect, and analyze data related to health equity. These data include, but are not limited to, self-reported and imputed Race, Ethnicity, Language (REL) and other socio-demographic data that have been found to be highly correlated with access to quality care
  • Participate in complete life cycle of analytics in support of population profiling, opportunity identification, product development, defining key performance measures, and product evaluation
  • Work independently to gather analytics requirements, develop analytic plans including recommending appropriate analytical/statistical/machine learning techniques, designing reporting/BI solutions, and engaging with technical leadership to develop scalable and repeatable analytic and reporting solutions
  • Manage, coach, develop a team by leading projects from conceptualization to completion
  • Communicate strategic and operational analytic concepts and findings to all levels of the organization. This includes developing communication products that summarize conclusions and recommendations from projects, presenting actionable opportunities, and proposing strategic and operational options for debate and consideration by the organization based on key findings
  • Consult with internal and external clients to present finding, ideas, and provide thought leadership around analytic insights and opportunities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of experience in health care analytics or research
  • 3+ years of management experience with progressive levels of accountability and strong leadership capabilities
  • Advanced proficiently with analytic tools such as SQL, SAS, R or Python
  • Advanced proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
  • Demonstrative presentation skills and professional communication style
  • Proven time/project management, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Comfortable with change and ambiguity given the ever-evolving nature of the business
  • 10% travel required (in person meetings)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD degrees in healthcare analytics, pharmaceutical outcomes research, health economics and outcomes research, data science, economics, public health, applied mathematics, mathematics biostatistics business analytics, or a related field
  • Experience with pharmacy, medical claims, and social determinants of health data
  • Experience in health equity analytics
  • PBM experience
  • Experience in statistical modeling and machine learning

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only
: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
