Dragonfli Group LLC is seeking a System Analyst – Data Visualization for an 8-month contract at the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services. The position is mostly remote; however, candidates must be able to present onsite (i.e., downtown Richmond) occasionally. 4 yearsโ experience in the responsibilities listed within this job post is required.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong BI development experience (e.g. creating dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, etc). This should include being the lead analyst on multiple dashboard projects from requirements gathering to implementation. The candidate should also have the capability to prepare their own data (SQL / SAS), identify data quality issues, and, preferably, have a health care data background. The candidate must also have hands on experience in analytics, preferably health care analytics.
The Data Visualization Specialist is responsible for turning abstract information from data analyses into appealing and understandable visualizations that improve business insights from the results of the analyses. They are creative thinkers who understand user interface design and apply visualizations skills such as user experience design, data visualization and graphical design. Individuals in this role understand how information is turned into knowledge and how this knowledge supports and enables key processes. Responsible for providing individuals with fact-based decision-making results, enabling them to quickly make changes, as appropriate, that may affect diverse areas.
Skill(s):
- Several years of experience in data analytics field is essential, (4 yearsโ experience)
- Experience in delivering outcomes across multiple projects and technologies, (4 yearsโ experience)
- Experience with technologies related to visualization, analytics and business intelligence applications, (4 yearsโ experience)
- Excellent knowledge of and experience with data visualization applications (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, QlikView), (4 yearsโ experience)
- Experience in designing and delivering dashboards, scorecards and data stories, (4 yearsโ experience)
- Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs, translate them into analytics application requirement, (4 yearsโ experience)
- Strong knowledge of tech aspects of visualization, analytics, BI applications including data modeling, data preparation/profiling, data integration, (4 yearsโ experience)
- Ability to present and explain data, concepts and frameworks effectively and confidently to users, team members, and management along a wide spectrum, (4 yearsโ experience)
- Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills, (4 yearsโ experience)
- Experience of delivering analytics projects with Agile framework, (4 yearsโ experience)
- Experience with Healthcare data is essential (Required), (4 yearsโ experience)
- Knowledge of Medicaid data and/or policy a plus (Highly Desired) (4 yearsโ experience)
- Experience with extracting data from a data warehouse preferred (Desired), (4 yearsโ experience)
- SAS and SQL experience preferred, (4 yearsโ experience)

Although this role is mostly remote, occasional travel to Richmond, VA may be required. Candidate must be within a 3-hour drive of Richmond, VA to enable pick up and drop off of equipment (e.g., laptop), any in-person tech support (if needed), and to attend any mandatory in person meeting (if needed).
Salary:
$70,000.00 – $90,000.00 annualized salary dependent on qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, education, etc.
