The BI Developer, Data and Analytics will be a key producer of analytical tools on the North American Solutions BI team. The BI Developer will report to the Manager of Data and Analytics at DSV Solutions North America. The position is part of a small but high visibility team producing business intelligence products, primarily using MS PowerBI and the associated suite of tools (PowerAutomate, Data Flows, DAX Studio, SQL, SharePoint, etc…).
The BI Developer works with the manager to assist in the scoping and design of the overall BI solution (dashboard or otherwise) paired with appropriate supporting technology. The BI Developer will contribute to ensure the design meets customer and organizational requirements – both explicit and implicit – tied to contractual KPIs, internal metrics, reliability and DSV standards / branding. Once each design is approved by a steering committee, the BI Developer works to independently produce the BI deliverable adhering to scope and timeline set. Each business intelligence solution the team develops will require optimization, maintenance and continual improvement. This individual will consider DSV Global BI Group standards and client requirements that allow data insights to surface through the use of BI and other analytical tools. The BI Developer would expect to be working on 2-3 new projects of varying size and scope at a time, while managing or stabilizing 3-4 projects as well, growing to the management of several dozen dashboards in mature stage.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as primary producer for North American Solutions BI projects focusing both internally and externally.
- Create and manage essential organizational data sources, scale and maintain as each data source grows and evolves.
- Independently build and maintain key PowerBI dashboards, including managing performance, accuracy and backend changes.
- Design dashboards that drive adoption of PowerBI tool and dashboards around North America.
- Maintain working knowledge of North American user set, manage access to certain apps, sometimes using RLS
- Contribute to organizational and project governance around BI projects, including the initial vetting of requests
- Continuously evolve personal and organizational skills around BI and analytics in general, which may include external and internal training.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- GED or equivalent in technical BI systems experience
- Extensive and practical PowerBI and DAX programming skills
- Minimum of 2 years BI system experience
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Computer Skills
- Microsoft PowerBI, Access, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint
BI / Statistical Skills
- Extensive DAX and PowerQuery (M) language experience in PowerBI
- Practical though not necessarily working knowledge of SQL (or similar language) queries including joins, unions and data types
- General understanding of database functionality including security, table structures, user management, etc…
- Ability to test, identify and diagnose server, query, front or backend performance issues, ideally using PowerBI desktop and the PowerBI cloud service
- General knowledge of statistics as it relates to organizational performance measurement
Language Skills
- English (reading, writing, verbal)
- Very strong interpersonal communication and language skills (e.g., listening to others, speaking to others, reading, writing).
- Communication (facilitation skills and very mature communication skills to be able to communicate to all levels in the organization) and reporting up and down
Other
- Working knowledge of a warehouse management system (WMS) or transportation system a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience dealing with all levels of operational and client staff, vendors and clients
- Experience in 3PL environment – operations, engineering, IT
- Four-year degree (Computer Science or Statistics)
- Experience with custom Power Automate scripting
