Team Leader, Enterprise Data Stewardship Team
We are expanding our team to support the Edward Jones Enterprise Data Governance capability. The Enterprise Data Governance Framework enables the firm to maximize the ability to generate value through its data in a structured, consistent, scalable, and trusted manner. Data Stewardship roles are a tangible function of the firm’s data governance framework – ensuring our data is cared for through its complete lifecycle, as an enterprise asset. Data stewards partner across the firm to ensure data is created, managed and effectively utilized as trusted enterprise assets – which leads to understood, controlled and reliable data.
This function partners closely with the Data Governance Center of Excellence and is responsible to mature and scale our data stewardship community.
The Enterprise Data Stewardship Team Leader will be responsible for supporting the data stewardship experience strategy, activation and ongoing support of stewardship programs by leading a team of analysts, and other key roles, who will partner with data stewards to facilitate data certification, the use of metadata playbooks, standards and policies, and support the overall data stewardship community in managing the ongoing health of our data assets. This team will work closely with business stakeholders and technology partners, to champion a data-centric culture and ensure we have an engaged and empowered community of data allies and stewards around our business data domains.

Key Responsibilities:
- Be a change agent for data literacy, lead a team of analysts and other key roles, and collaborate with different parts of the organization to advance and mature our data governance posture via our stewardship community
- Lead and partner with team members to mature and optimize the data stewardship experience
- Lead and partner with team members to identify, activate and support stewardship programs, and utilize metadata management tools, data quality tools, etc to operationalize and scale our data governance capabilities
- Lead and manage a team that works with data stewards to ensure the ongoing health of data through its lifecycle.
- Ensure best practices are being leveraged and enforced in firm initiatives via the stewardship community, which requires partnering closely with the Data Governance COE (center of excellence).
- Help define, implement, and support our data stewardship operating model.
- Partner with the Data Governance COE to define key performance indicators, including data quality, to monitor and track the health and growth of our data assets.
- Lead change management, communication, training, and education initiatives.
- Responsible within their team for recruiting, hiring, and developing diverse talent necessary to fulfill our vision for the organization and achieve key outcomes.
- Develop and manage business relationships with leaders across the organization
- Provide thought leadership and align the work of the team to the overall strategy of Data Governance and the specific business area.
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education & experience is required with an emphasis in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or MIS strongly preferred.
- Advanced degree or certification preferred
- 8+ years of experience with progressive responsibility, preferably in roles related to data governance, data management, data analytics, and/or executing strategic programs.
- 1+ year leading associates or leading in a matrixed environment on large governance projects preferred.
- Series 99 or Series 7 required within 6 months.
- Preference to candidates with knowledge of data governance best practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship skills
- Experience in Wealth Management / Financial Services industry, functional and/or technical area of expertise.
