Edward Jones is seeking a Test Data Engineer to support our Test Data Management (TDM) and Obfuscation teams. This role will be key in providing technical support of current test data management processes and contributing to the improvement and evolution of these processes. At Edward Jones, our systems are deeply dependent on vast quantities of tightly integrated data. As a Test Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the quality of test data and security of sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data across environments, while having a strong understanding of system interdependencies in order to provide solutions that will allow for effective development and verification within our test environments. The ideal candidate is someone with strong technical skills who is knowledgeable of application development, possesses expertise in test data management, and has a passion for meeting data governance needs while delivering high quality software through the effective management of test data. In this role you will maintain current TDM processes, while supporting the evolution of the next generation test data management and data obfuscation strategy.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain, expand, and modernize test data management and/or data obfuscation frameworks and processes, including providing enhancements and automation improvements which increase the efficiency/effectiveness of current processes
- Develop, implement, and manage complex test data management solutions in support of application testing needs
- Provide support to Product teams and SMEs and develop an understanding of application integration and data dependencies, in order to identify potential process opportunities and improvements, as well as possible test data issues
- Serve as test data expert to ensure availability, security, reliability, and integrity of data within test environments
- Collaborate with data governance, security, application owners, quality assurance, environment owners and other stakeholders to understand and adhere to business needs and data obfuscation standards
- Serve as expert for business data requirements, test planning, and test data solutions for new or existing technologies
- Maintain knowledge of industry standards, best practices and new technologies
- Serve as vendor liaison to ensure effective communication/coordination with vendor partners
Required:
- Five+ years Data Management, Application Development or Quality Assurance experience with an extensive knowledge of complex SQL scripting and database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, and/or DB2
- Experience with multiple scripting languages (JavaScript, PowerShell, Python, etc.)
- Experience working in Agile methodology
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent years of relevant work experience
- Ability to multi-task and participate in multiple large and complex efforts or projects
- Proactive, self-motivated and independent with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.
Preferred:
- Three+ years hands-on TDM experience with exposure to industry standard TDM tools such as IBM Optim, Delphix or Broadcom CA TDM
- Experience managing data movement between multiple systems, including between on-prem and cloud-based applications
- Knowledge of sensitive data categories including Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Payment Card Industry (PCI), and Protected Health Information (PHI), along with experience with test data masking/obfuscation/profiling/integration
- Experience implementing innovative Test Data Management solutions and strategies
