Job Description:

As a Database Engineer on the Database Engineering team, you will drive adoption of cloud-based database technologies within Egencia, working closely with our application teams to understand data platform requirements and to provide guidance on database technology selection and be an advocate for adoption. You will leverage your knowledge and experience with database design, development, performance tuning, and administration to deliver robust cloud database solutions. In this role, you will be working with Agile methodologies to iterate quickly in delivering our database engineering initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, propose and deploy cloud database systems, leveraging AWS managed database services to support Egencia’s industry leading corporate travel platform.
  • Consult with application teams on database technology selection, schema design, database coding, and database performance tuning.
  • Develop best practices for deploying, configuring, and monitoring high availability database systems within AWS.
  • Communicating and collaborating with Egencia’s application teams to drive Database Engineering initiatives.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with developing, engineering, and administering multiple relational or NoSQL database technologies (i.e. AWS Aurora, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
  • Working Experience with Amazon Web Services managed database services (i.e. Aurora, PostgreSQL RDS, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, ElastiCache and other), virtual server hosting (EC2, EBS, S3, AMIs, Management Console), and networking principles (ie. VPC, IAM, Route 53).
  • Experience setting up database monitoring tools (i.e. DataDog, CloudWatch).
  • Experience automating deployment processes (i.e. Ansible, Terraform).
