Responsibilities
The Bioproduct Research & Development (BR&D) organization within Eli Lilly and Company supports the design, development, and commercialization of drug products for parenteral delivery that include biologics, oligonucleotides, peptides, and other chemical entities.
The Data Architect will play a key role in supporting various product research and development activities. The data architect will help the Drug Product team collate large sets of data and analyze platform data by building data management and visualization solutions. The Architect will also partner with formulation and engineering leads to help process, analyze, visualize, and interpret large sets of platform formulation data, experimental data, delivery device injection physiology data, and data from formulation studies. The data architect will also work with formulation and engineering leads and other CMC functions to deploy and maintain the visualization tools/dashboards and ensure that the tools are incorporated in day-to-day activities.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
The Data Architect will:
- Design and build systems that will help scientists and engineers pool, aggregate, and analyze large sets of data within and across multiple programs.
- Build visualization tools to help the project leads quickly understand and interpret data effectively
- Process and analyze large data sets of varying complexity collected from formulation and engineering tests and experiments. The data can be highly multivariate drawn from many sources ranging from simple electronic sensor outputs to video imaging. The analyst will apply statistical treatments, analytics, and visualization methods and streamline analyses by coding and implementing processing automation scripts.
- Perform data/statistical analysis and summarize outputs for DOE studies, other formulation studies, shipping & distribution studies, and other platform related studies.
- Develop solutions to enable automated technical report generation (Word document format) from the output of visualization tools.
- Communicate with BRD scientists to align on platform and molecule-specific project needs for data analysis. Document information generated into electronic notebooks, technical reports, and presentations.
- Compile, process, and present results of computational chemistry modeling for predictive studies Ensure individual and departmental compliance with the laws, regulations, guidelines, procedures, and practices governing drug research and development, including the departmental and corporate standard operating, good manufacturing, and safety procedures.
Basic Qualifications
A minimum of a Masters degree, preferably in Data Sciences or Computer Sciences, Statistics or Biomedical Engineering or related field with at least 2 years of relevant industrial experience.
Additional Skills/Preferences
- Proficiency in statistical software (such as SAS, JMP)
- Proficiency in coding and scripting in, for example, Python, R, Matlab, VBA, query languages.
- Proficiency in dashboard development, such as Power BI and/or Tableau.
- Understanding of data warehouse architectures, experience in working with complex data flows involving multiple sources
- Working knowledge of experimental design and associated statistics.
- Previous experience in clinical studies (human or animal).
- Interpersonal communication skills for effective project consultation.
- Teamwork and leadership skills
- Self-management skills with a focus on results for timely and accurate completion of competing deliverables
- Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and ability to identify problems and drive issue resolution / improvements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
