Reporting to the Associate Dean of Academic Operations, the Information Systems and Business Analyst for Laney Graduate School develops and maintains a reliable data operations and reporting environment supporting the major divisions of the LGS, with emphasis on enrollment and records, student affairs, and planning and evaluation. Works with LGS staff, University data systems to collect, maintain, retrieve and analyze data to support ongoing processes, planning, evaluation, and decision-making.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Leads efforts to ensure that information systems support enterprise mission and objectives.
- Works closely with departmental customers and administration to conduct business analysis and identify business objectives and requirements.
- Coordinates the development of technology plans and strategies.
- Manages, from a client business perspective, related systems projects.
- Ensures a high level of client satisfaction by monitoring the delivery of ongoing information systems to the enterprise.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
- Using University data structures, provides research, reports and analyses to support ongoing and recurring processes, short-term decision-making, and long-term planning and evaluation.
- This includes working with LGS staff to define and produce standard reports and benchmark data as well as to develop data for strategic planning projects.
- Manages database components of LGS CRM systems to ensure that those systems serve functional and analytical goals for LGS and are appropriately aligned and coordinated with University systems of record.
- Serves as central contact and provides overall management for end user training and functional development of LGS CRM system and other data related systems.
- Manages reporting of LGS student data through various channels – website displays, external reports, and more.
- Coordinates efforts to plan for LGS data operations, quality, and reporting.
- This includes (a) conceptualizing and guiding LGS’s efforts to balance in-house efforts to produce data, reports and analysis with central University needs, policies, and resources, as well as with external reporting requirements; and (b) identifying best practices and making recommendations about aligning business practices with software and other resources.
- Serves as the central contact for LGS student data, both internally and in relation to the University’s central offices.
- Serves as LGS liaison to the University PeopleSoft Student Support team, to other University data and technology entities as appropriate, and to vendors in data systems areas.
- May supervise staff, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree and eight years of position specific subject matter knowledge and/or experience in planning and applying information technology to one or more business function or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience managing and using complex databases, CRM systems and data visualization software.
- Experience with data driven decision guidance and program evaluation, including a basic knowledge of statistics and related software (e.g., SPSS, R, STATA).
- Record of working in complex data environments, preferably with PeopleSoft systems, and of analyzing business requirements and aligning them with appropriate software and other resources.
- Record of working effectively with data systems and practices with staff and end users at many levels of sophistication with regard to software, quality control procedures, data documentation, and the business processes in which the data belong.
- 7-10 years of experience managing complex data and analysis systems for complex organizations, including a record of building a data environment and data management system within a complex structure, and of designing and implementing quality control systems.
- Experience in higher education at the graduate level is strongly preferred.
- Master’s degree in relevant field, or Bachelor’s degree with subsequent training and additional experience.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
