Our Exciting Opportunity
Ericsson Global AI Accelerator (GAIA) is a global unit that has been set up to accelerate our Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning offerings. It is chartered with the responsibility of building a highly competent center of excellence that brings together a team of talented Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Software Engineers, and Machine Learning Architects towards the goal of enhancing Ericsson products and services portfolio with advanced AI/ML powered capabilities.
We are currently looking for a Director Data Science to work with one of our Global AI Accelerator units, based in Santa Clara, CA, USA.
You will
- Responsible for overseeing the development, support, maintenance and implementation of projects handled by GAIA USA team(s).
- Lead functional and technical analysis within Ericsson organization and strategic customers to understand AI business needs and opportunities
- Contribute to rapid and iterative development of high-quality ML/AI applications. This includes working with petabytes of 4G/5G-networks, IoT and exogenous data, and proposing/selecting/testing predictive models, recommendation engines, anomaly detection systems, statistical model, deep learning, reinforcement learning and other machine learning systems
- Guide studies and find creative usage of new and/or existing data sources. Work with Data Architects to demonstrate existing data models and build new ones, as needed.
- Collaborate with product development teams and partners in Ericsson Businesses to modernize machine learning models and solutions as part of Ericsson offerings including providing source code, workflows and documents
- Responsible for developing appropriate processes and road map for the team(s) including hiring plans, training requirements, staffing etc.
To be successful in the role you must have
- Masters or PhD desirable, although Bachelors with significant experience in DS/DE/MLOPs can be considered
- First Class, preferably with Distinction.
- Overall industry experience of around 15 years. At least 5 years’ experience as a people and technology leader
- Experience in leading teams working on AI, ML, BigData and Analytics would be an added advantage.
- Good technical knowledge across areas solid grasp of business issues. Ability to build plans to align technical issues with business strategy.
- Solid ability to see the whole picture and to focus on the important details in a pragmatic and result oriented way with ability to challenge when needed.
The salary range for this position is listed below. The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience. Santa Clara $ 199,600 – $299,400
Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Financial Security:
We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. Ericsson’s 401(k) plan offers an automatic 3% company contribution and up to a 4% company match, leading to a maximum company contribution of 7% annually. Employees will also receive company paid basic life and accidental death and dismemberment coverage and paid company short-term and long-term disability benefits. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson’s Stock Purchase Plan.
Your Time:
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided up to 40 days of paid time off per year, including 15 days of accrued annual vacation, 3 personal days, 11 paid holidays, 10 sick days, and 1 volunteer day. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date. Those with additional vacation time at the end of the year may sell one week of vacation, equal to a week of pay. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of maternity/medical leave, 6 weeks of paternity or adoption leave at 100% of pay, and medical leave at 100% or 66 2/3% of pay, based on length of service.
