Technology at Euromonitor International
Technology is an important part of our business. Our content is only available digitally, and we develop and support our syndicated, as well as bespoke solutions from a number of our global offices. As a result we engage with our users on a daily basis to receive feedback on our products or engage in support. We have four development centres, Bangalore, Cape Town, London and Vilnius and a total staff of 200, headed up by a Chief Technologist who is a member of the global leadership team. The technologies we have in our estate are as varied as the processes we support, from creating, publishing and distributing, querying validating and visualising statistical data and written content. The data sets we work with run into decades across 100 different markets and currently, 36 industries. As a result, performance and searchability is something we are constantly working on.
We are currently running with a number of technology transformation initiatives, everything from clouding, to implementing micro services and exploring semantic technologies. We are also running a Digital Workplace programme, to improve collaboration and increasing automation. The Position: Business Analyst
In conjunction with the rest of the Business Analysis team and Product Management team, act as bridge and liaison between the business and technology, translating needs and requirements into work items. Co-ordinate with relevant Lead Business Analyst and Business Analysts to always stay on top of changes happening across the organisation.
The Business Analyst will report directly to the Product Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities Business Analyst
- In conjunction with the rest of the Business Analysis team and Product Management team, act as bridge and liaison between the business and technology, translating needs and requirements into work items. Co-ordinate with relevant Lead Business Analyst to always stay on top of changes happening across the organization.
- Gather, understand and analyse requirements (Functional, Non-functional and Constraints) using meetings, interviews, existing document analysis, workshops, surveys and other initiatives.
- Analyse and document ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ processes and obtain stakeholder/Product owner sign off.
- Write clear user stories with appropriate level of acceptance criteria and work with stakeholders to ensure that products and projects meet requirements.
- Engage with Stakeholders and Product Manager to priorities the requirements for future sprints and development.
- Provide input to product backlog maintenance and lead refinement sessions with scrum master and scrum team as per the guideline provided in Agile Scrum.
- Continuously communicate and engage with stakeholders and Product Manager to ensure that all key parties agree that your understanding of requirements meets business objectives.
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously.
- Support testing and release aspects of requirement.
- Provide second and third line support on the products for which the Business Analyst is responsible, engaging with clients and/or colleagues to understand issues and take necessary steps towards fixing them.
- Collaborate with a larger team to plan and deliver analysis work on projects, ensuring dependencies across multiple workstreams/projects are understood and appropriately communicated.
- Work on any other Adhoc requests as they arise.

- Requirements definition and management:
- Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret complex business needs to accurately identify problems and translate these into requirements.
- Evaluate and establish requirements using relevant techniques such as gap analysis.
- Able to write user stories, acceptance criteria and create artefacts incl. ability to support written documents with visual models like wireframes, process and flow charts, specifications, use case and context Diagrams.
- Capable of identifying non-functional requirements and documenting them in an appropriate form of documentation.
- Able to accommodate requirements and/or design changes and adjust future steps based on feedbacks from both, stakeholders and development team.
Stakeholder relationship management
- Identifies, analyses, manages and monitors relationships with and between stakeholders and appropriately document these.
- Able to communicate with stakeholders clearly and regularly, clarifying needs and commitments.
- Software development and knowledge:
- Ability to work in adaptive and flexible environment with fast paced development approach.
- Knowledge of Software and product development lifecycle.
- Business process improvement:
- Identifies and explores current processes to create opportunities for business improvement.
- Able to analyse new improvements and prioritize to achieve maximum value.
- Innovation:
- Ability to look at new ways of tackling business problems or identify, pinpoint and take advantage of business opportunities to allow organisations to perform more effectively.
- Ability to confidently formulate new features or products from scratch, based on the business and user need.
Desired Candidate Profile
Additional skills/proficiencies
- Understanding of Domain Modelling/Data Modelling
- 4 to 6 years of experience is Business Analyst role.
- Experience in using Feature maps to identify user journey.
- Ability to discuss and identify test scenarios and work with the development team to identify test cases.
- Experience in working with web-based applications.
- Experience working with distributed teams.
- Understanding of Product Management
- Exposure to requirement management tools e.g. TFS/Jira/Azure DevOps
- Background in SQL knowledge or working in environment of relational data.
While we work core hours there may be long hours during some phases of the development cycle and/or approaching important deadlines.
