Job Description


Job Title: Assistant Director

Job Summary:

  • EY’s Strategic Intelligence team, is looking for a talented and driven analyst to provide Insights on leadership strategy enabled by primary and secondary research capabilities, benchmarking, competitor intelligence, market share/size analysis etc. to support EY’s Talent organization and other senior business leaders within the firm. This involves acting as a strategic advisor providing a combination of research and analysis to identify actionable insights that power distinctive points of view and shape EY talent strategies and decisions.
  • The research and analysis will enable the GDS Talent leadership make better decisions by assisting in development and co-creation of high-quality, business-relevant insights around talent strategies, employee policies, location strategies across EY GDS locations.
  • Successful execution of the role will require the ability to combine strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset with real-world perspective driven by an understanding of both talent space and broader marketplace drivers. This individual will be credible as an expert and will help to ensure the quality and delivery of research, analysis, market intelligence and other intellectual capital. At the same time, this individual will be a coach to junior analysts, championing a strategic, commercial, and agile approach to insight generation and excellent communications skills.
  • The Assistant Director will work closely with the GDS Markets Domain Knowledge Leader and other Senior Domain Analysts / Knowledge Managers to support EY Talent Leadership and other senior stakeholders, providing thought-provoking content to help EY differentiate itself in the marketplace and proactively helping to identify new business opportunities and risks.
  • Engages with and challenges senior domain stakeholders to provide commercial and provocative perspectives on the issues, challenges and opportunities facing the domain and prepares insightful analysis on the impact of those trends for EY and its clients.
  • Develops and co-creates insights beyond publicly available information, interacting with Knowledge colleagues, account teams, service line colleagues, clients, and external networks to incorporate proprietary knowledge and, where possible, develop proprietary data sets to evidence a differentiated point of view.
  • Develops a credible internal brand to become recognized within EY as a subject matter expert to the business.
  • Participate in client meetings, roundtables, and other external events/conferences to strengthen EY’s presence and reputation in the market.
  • Collaborates with Knowledge colleagues to proactively alert stakeholders regarding changes among key clients and competitors and assesses the impact of those changes on internal strategies and plans.
  • Drives greater connectivity within the domain and across other parts of EY by using strong relationships to share information and convene groups around a common issue.
  • Takes a proactive approach to identifying materials, credentials, and other information, particularly from key engagements that are relevant within and across domains and sharing this information in appropriate formats with teams and communities (e.g., accounts, solutions, sub-service lines).
  • Identifies cross-sector Point of View (POV) sharing opportunities and collaborates with other domain teams on issues that cut across EY’s business activities.
  • Acts as a role model within EY Knowledge and the domain, championing the use of EY Knowledge methodologies and positively influencing change by leading by example; championing knowledge-sharing behaviors; connecting people; encouraging enterprise-wide sharing; and appropriately leveraging and reusing existing collateral.
  • Build team management and counselling responsibilities (only if applicable in a domain)
  • Take on internal business development activities to further new tools and knowledge deliverables and grow the coverage of domain team to cover the unmet demand.


Key Requirements:


Education:

  • MBA/Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification preferable
  • Bachelor’s degree and applicable relevant work experience can also be considered


Experience
:

  • Minimum 11+ years of experience in strategy, business analysis, industry research, management consulting or business performance, advising organizations in the relevant domain.
  • Possess deep understanding of the applicable domain, strong analytical skills and the ability to develop a point of view.
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and interfacing with stakeholders and internal customers at different levels of seniority.
  • Previous experience managing multidisciplinary teams is an added advantage and must for roles with supervision responsibilities
  • Willingness to build a network of internal contacts to help support domain and broader business objectives.
  • Previous experience of working on domain databases.
  • Collaborative and able to work well as part of a geographically dispersed multidisciplinary and multicultural project team.
  • Capable of putting individual projects/initiatives into a “big picture” context and credible experience working in a fast-moving, client-centric environment.
  • Proficient in English with well-structured oral and written communications skills; able to explain difficult concepts in a clear, concise and graphic-rich style, using appropriate analytics and visualization tools.
  • Ability to take ownership for delivering customized projects with a degree of autonomy; adept at leading several projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable with occasional travel and working flexible hours, across multiple time zones.


Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

  • Ability to synthesize and analyze information coherently and succinctly. Able to bring together a variety of perspectives and sources across the domain to deliver compelling analysis that supports business priorities.
  • Confident in understanding multiple business drivers and talented at defining the root causes of trends.
  • Capable at identifying issues and trends that translate into key market-facing initiatives and opportunities for EY.
  • Demonstrates ability to use both qualitative and quantitative research and analysis methodologies, including financial analysis skills, to synthesize information, review data inputs and provide analytic insights
  • Adept at using strategically sound analytical methodologies and capable at coaching less-experienced team members to improve their skills in research, analysis, data analytics and visualization.
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Power BI. Good experience with large sets of data sets. Experience with data modelling, data analytics, and various data management tools is a plus.
  • Specialist skills in emerging data analytics tool will be an added advantage: Alteryx / Python / R
  • Application/use cases of emerging technologies in the applicable domain would be an added advantage: e.g., Artificial intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) / Blockchain / Robotics process automation (RPA)


Supervision Responsibilities:

  • May help to lead multidisciplinary teams, often working virtually across service lines and geographies
  • Limited direct supervision responsibility but must help to cultivate a high-performance teaming environment with analysts in a global, multi-cultural and virtual environment
  • Reviews the work of colleagues and mentors their skills development
  • May serve as counselor or manager for other analysts and specialists
