Brief Summary of Purpose:
The Director, Business Intelligence (DBI) is responsible for supporting the mission and goals of Fallon Health through the delivery of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for it’s internal and external constituencies. The DBI is responsible for developing the strategic vision & plan for business intelligence and analytics including the optimization and expansion of the Business Intelligence and reporting tools. The DBI is responsible for directing the development of comprehensive BI capabilities and protocols consistent with the enterprise and information architecture. This individual is also responsible for defining the respective BI standards, guidelines and best practices. The DBI will evaluate and recommend all related infrastructure components such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities in collaboration with the Information Management and Analytics leadership team. The DBI is also responsible for internal and external relationship management, and the development of a high performing team.

Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for business intelligence with users, department managers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
- Function as a key, contributing member of the IMA and IT leadership team
- Support the IT strategic planning process
- Determine long-term resources (systems, skills needed, capacity planning, etc.) to meet future business needs.
- Think strategically and operate tactically to drive and deliver business value
Business relationship management
- Build strong collaborative partnerships between IT and our business customers.
- Work with business leads to understand their business strategy, priorities and expectations.
- Manage business expectations and ensure that the IT delivery is aligned
- Collaborate with business leads to prioritize demand to enable optimal delivery of solutions.
- Maintain good communication around issues and opportunities
- Provides customer satisfaction to both internal and external customers and strives to continuously improve service delivery and quality.
- Serve as point of escalation with internal and external customers/business partners as necessary to resolve issues.
- Oversee the development of high quality, well-designed solutions that are both scalable to meet the evolving needs of the business as well as easy to maintain.
- Support the framework for application lifecycle management
- Promote the use of accepted best practices and innovative strategies.
- Ensure the team has appropriate resources and highlights areas of need to upper Management for resolution.
- Monitor the work environment and business operation. Address concerns that may affect the morale and/or operational effectiveness of the group.
- Direct the design reengineering of the BI, implementation of efficient visualization and analytics solutions, and the deployment of effective end-user reporting tools and ad hoc reporting capabilities.
- Direct the design, development and implementation of all Enterprise Reporting Solutions.
- Develop, coordinate, guide and maintain strategic and operational plans in support of the overall mission of the Information Management & Analytics.
- Direct assessment, evaluation and selection of technology solutions as appropriate.
- Manage applicable vendor relationships including cost and performance aspects.
- Coordinate and work with other technical staff to develop BI architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and work with other technical staff to design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on business intelligence products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Evaluate, recommend, and select business intelligence components, including hardware, software, and metadata management tools.
- Design, initiate and manage business intelligence enhancement and growth projects.
- Monitor and manage business intelligence configuration and performance tuning collaboration with the IT infrastructure team.

Establish and maintain effective channels of communication
- Proactively communicate with other departments to ensure cross-functional concerns are identified and effectively addressed.
- Establish and maintain an open communication channel with the staff.
- Monitor the effectiveness of communication with other groups (internal and external).
- Collaborates with upper management to implement changes as necessary to ensure an open, productive exchange of information.
Qualifications:
Education:
IT Technical Experience:
- 7+ years related experience
- Demonstrated technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting complex Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and platforms
- Excellent leadership and hands-on experience with BI architecture and Strategy
- Excellent leadership and hands-on experience in implementing Data Visualization, Analytics, Enterprise and Operational reporting solutions.
- Experience in agile release management and delivery within the BI domain.
- Experience in leading design and implementation of data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics solutions.
- Strong experience with industry-standard database and data management platforms
- Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
- Solid understanding of application support and development principles and techniques
- Knowledge of technology trends and future implications to define technology and adoption roadmaps.
- Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
IT Management Experience:
- IT Management experience in Healthcare (preferred), Insurance, Financial Services, or Banking
