As a valued colleague on our Fair Lending team, you will support Fannie Mae’s core mission of promoting housing equity initiatives. You will be part of a small impactful team of Fair Lending analytics professionals. Using techniques from statistics and machine learning to conduct fair lending analysis on models, decision tools, policies, and initiatives.
THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
In the Fair Lending – Data Science – Lead Associate role you will support Fannie Mae’s compliance with fair lending laws, as well as the Company’s equity initiatives. This role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
- Review traditional and artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) models for algorithmic bias.
- Provide recommendations on modifications to statistical models that further fair lending objectives.
- Design modeling applications that support fair lending risk identification, measurement, and mitigation.
- Gather and report on data necessary for fair lending assessments, data availability, and data quality.
- Apply best practices in research and fair lending testing to model, product, and policy development.
- Partner with team to design data visualizations, technical documentation, and non-technical presentation materials to communicate ideas and solutions to business partners, management, and regulators.
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Minimum Required Experiences
- 4 years of related work experience
- Experience with Data Analytics and/or Data Engineering
Functional Skills- Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal
- Experience with the financial services industry
- Excellent written and oral communication skill in delivering complex technical information to audience with various background
- Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand using graphical representation of information in the form of a charts, diagrams, pictures, and dashboards with programs and tools
Technical Skills- Experience in model validation, model risk oversight and/or model development
- Expertise in utilizing technology tools and open-source programming languages
- Skilled in Python
- Familiarity with AI/ML explain ability analysis and building challenger models
Desired Experiences
- 6 years of related work experience
- Master’s or other advanced degree in economics, finance, statistics, computer science or a related quantitative field
- R, SAS, SQL experience
- Some knowledge of the use of statistical analysis related to anti-discrimination laws such as fair lending and housing
- Familiarity with financial services, particularly the Single Family and/or Multifamily mortgage business
- Focused experience in AI, including machine learning and natural language processing (NLP)
- Familiarity with AWS and machine learning tools, such as Sagemaker
- Skilled in applying econometric and statistical technics including time series, panel data, discrete event modeling to mortgage performance modeling, property, and financial asset valuation modeling
- Familiarity with adversarial debiasing techniques
