The Office of the Chief Data Officer is seeking a Business Analyst to support a growing team who is helping our nation’s Central Bank achieve its mission and strategic goals. Data are truly the lifeblood of our organization, driving all key decisions and policies. As a Business Analyst, you will support the Board’s implementation of the Open Data Government Act, project monitoring and reporting processes, and enterprise efforts to improve data capabilities. Your experience in all phases of the data lifecycle and team-oriented collaboration will drive the transformation of our data management program. A customer focused mindset is critical in facilitating this transformation and in supporting our data users’ business needs. The Business Analyst works on the coordination of activities to leverage, optimize, and maximize the return on investment of data assets to support the achievement of the Board’s mission and strategy. The Business analyst provides strategic data analysis, data modeling, information flow analysis, meta-data and taxonomy direction in support of the Board’s mission.
Position requirements:
Strong knowledge of data operations, business analysis and process engineering acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, information technology, or related field and a minimum of 4 years of related experience or a master’s degree in a related field and 3 years of related experience (FR26). Must possess clear, concise and effective verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with technical personnel, business customers, and management. Demonstrated commitment to a strong customer service philosophy required. Certification as a Certified Data Management Professional, Six Sigma, or Project Management Professional is preferred.
Analyzes and reviews industry best practices with regards to metadata, taxonomy development, open data, and data dissemination. May develop appropriate methodologies, policies, and procedures for collecting, storing, analyzing, and presenting data products.
FR-27 is a Sr. Business Analyst and must meet the qualifications of grade FR-26 in addition to a minimum of 5 years of related experience or a master’s degree in a related field and 4 years of related experience.
Works with all levels of the Board’s staff in support of data management and governance. May also be called upon to brief senior staff in an area of expertise. Actively participates in managing relationships within the Federal Reserve and outside agencies to meet data management and governance needs. Possesses strong consulting and communications skills, ability to work well in group settings and to represent the Board interests on various committees.
Conducts the most complex analysis with creativity, judgment, and responsibility; assess the extent to which new approaches and policies are consistent with the strategic direction of the Board. Effectively resolves complex and difficult questions in the areas of business process and data flows, metadata and taxonomy.
Highly Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of data lifecycle and data management principles
- Experience managing enterprise data initiatives using agile methodologies
- Strong knowledge of metadata management
- Strong written and communication skills

This position is hybrid, requiring a combination of telework and an in-office presence in Washington, DC.
