The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of an overall Quality Assurance strategy for technology projects using the Information Technology (IT) Division?s System Development Methodology (SDM). The QA Analyst is a member of the IT software development or systems team and works closely with other QA Analysts, business clients, and IT technologists during the design, development, and test phases of software development and system deployments. The QA Analyst is responsible for refining client business requirements; develops test cases and test scripts; supports user acceptance tests conducted by business clients; implements and maintains automated test scripts; reports software defects; and acts as a documentation librarian. The Analyst possesses a broad understanding of the SDM, FISMA and security requirements, testing strategies, and system development documentation requirements.

Strong analytical ability and oral and written communications skills typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting, information systems, computer science, or a related discipline, and through a minimum of two (2) years full-time work experience. Strong knowledge of different application development platforms (web, distributed, mainframe). Thorough knowledge of the System Development Life Cycles. Strong knowledge of IT security; awareness of vulnerabilities and methods for mitigating them. Self-motivation and ability to work well with others. Demonstrated ability to learn quickly about new security tools and how to use them. Experience testing complex applications with various components and writing test plans and test scenarios. Experience with database querying. Ability to multi-task and take direction, handle stringent test deadlines and time and quality pressures. Some background knowledge in the financial industry is preferred but not required.

The successful applicant for this position will function as a quality assurance analyst on a development team consisting of eight or more people tasked with operations, maintenance, and enhancements for the Board’s Electronic records management system. In this role, the successful applicant will fulfil the roles and responsibilities of a business analyst and manual software tester.

Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail are required to conduct interviews to gather user requirements through workshops, surveys, workflow, and other methods. Strong writing skills will be required to write accurate, concise user stories and/or requirement specifications. Excellent listening, oral communications, and presentation skills are also required. Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies such as Agile Kanban, development of wireframes and experience writing and executing test cases to validate requirements is highly desirable. Proficiency with Microsoft Visio and Azure DevOps boards is also desirable.
