Our modern title decisioning solutions create certainty and speed through data and analytics, delivered to real estate agents, lenders, title agents and homebuyers. We’re looking for a Lead Data Engineer interested in transforming our industry by solving cutting-edge problems with modern technologies, want the benefit of working for an established real estate insurance leader and seek a culture awarded as a Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work.
What you’ll do:
- Own big data enrichment pipelines using AWS technologies like Glue (pyspark) and MWAA with data hosted in S3 and Snowflake
- Refine requirements with data product owner
- Collaborate with analysts to understand upstream data assets and troubleshoot data-related issues
- Develop locally, empowered by Docker and tools like VSCode, Jupyter Notebook, GLUE interactive sessions. and DBeaver
- Build resilient CI/CD alongside DevOps using GitHub Actions and Terraform
- Work with QA Engineers to create and maintain automated tests
- Consult with Architects and other data engineers to define and follow best practices
- Provide expertise and mentorship to other engineers.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience developing production systems leveraging big data technologies, preferably pyspark
- Experience with CSV, JSON, Parquet file formats
- Experience with S3, Athena, RDS, Glue catalogue, Cloud formation/Terraform
- Experience with querying nested/JSON data stored in parquet files or tables
- Experience with git
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in schema design, data ingestion experience on Snowflake (or equivalent MPP)
- Experience in orchestrating data processing jobs using Step Function/Glue workflow/Apache Airflow (MWAA)
- Experience in data analysis using Excel formulas, Vlookups, pivot, slicers
- Experience developing in a Docker environment preferred
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Typical Range of Experience
- Typically 8+ years of directly related experience
- 2+ years demonstrated leadership on a technical team
- Experience working with distributed team is preferred
