The Mortgage Data Science team will be responsible for driving organizational transformation through the use of data, analytics, BI, and AI/ML in order to support rapid business growth and provide direct input to senior leadership to implement change. We’re looking for a data science manager who is passionate about bringing success by collaboratively working with our business partners and leading a team of different levels of data scientists. The ideal candidates must demonstrate thought leadership on data science best practices, team leadership, and innovative problem solving. S/he will be leading the build out, articulating, and delivering genuine business value through the alignment of technology, architecture, data, and business interests.

Collaborate with business leaders to translate business goals and priorities into tactical solutions

Provide thought leadership to the team and business partners driving project execution using latest technologies including AI/ML technologies and solving problems.

Possess expert knowledge of business/data/technology or ways to gain expert knowledge and function as the ultimate advisor for the team

Create an inclusive and energizing team culture. Coach junior data scientists, support their career development, and advocate for them. Establish and maintain a team brand to demonstrate credibility, expertise, and agility

Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the company to integrate innovation concepts into the business and ensure successful implementation and realization.

Develop or Guide the development of data analytics (ranging from data analysis, regression to machine learning) in a variety of environments using structured and unstructured data.

Design and guide the development of the deliverables which translate the complex concepts in a format digestible by a diverse audience across the organization in the form of presentation, business intelligence dashboards and/or analytics tools.

Identify and lead the remediation of key data quality issues impacting our ability to deliver. Take ownership of the end-to-end product cycle including data science solution design, technical delivery, and value quantification.

Partner across the functions, including the line of businesses, IT, Data Office, and/or third-party vendors to co-build the data foundation and analytics delivery infrastructure for the action-driven insights and reporting

Oversee the appropriate documentation of calculations, code, and foster risk management culture throughout design, development, and deployment practices. Suggest alternative approaches or controls to mitigate risks/gaps identified.

Bachelor’s Degree Required (Business, analytics, or some other related field)

Master’s Degree Preferred (Business, analytics, or some other related field)

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in data analysis, modeling and visualization

Minimum 3 years of hands on industry experience in leveraging data science and analytics to solve business problems

MS or PhD in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, or Physics)

Expert knowledge in advanced analytics (e.g. Statistical modeling, machine learning, text analytics)

Proficiency in programming with statistical & data science languages (e.g. Excel VBA, SQL, Python, R)

Proficiency in leveraging tools for ETL and data wrangling

Proficiency in modern visualization tool (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, D3.js)

Intellectual curious and self-driven in understanding business domains and their data

Experience of cloud computing tools on any of the major cloud platforms preferred

Prior management experience is required.
