Ford’s Global Data Insight and Analytics (GDI&A) organization is looking for smart, nice and curious propulsion data analysis engineers with exceptional skills in powertrain calibration and machine learning. No other industry has the diversity, difficulty and economic impact of quantitative-based solutions as those found in the automotive industry. And no other automotive company in the world has the size, executive support or computing infrastructure to match that provided to GDI&A by Ford.

What you’ll be able to do:
We are seeking high-potential propulsion data analysis engineers to assist in building machine learning-based surrogate models to accelerate and improve all stages of drivetrain calibration.

  • You will be given the autonomy to conduct original research and choose appropriate methodologies to solve world-class problems.
  • Involves the development and deployment of machine learning technology in a wide variety of powertrain calibration domains, including combustion engines, electric motors, hybrid systems, automatic transmissions, drivelines, and more.
  • You will be a member of a team that applies cutting-edge AI and machine learning techniques to develop innovative solutions for these problems and participate in building a strategy for future contributions in these domains and more.
  • Analyze source data and data flows, working with structured and unstructured data.
  • Work collaboratively with different business partners and be able to present results in a clear and concise manner.


The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field of study.
  • 2+ years of experience of software development with at least one of Python, Scala, R, or C++
  • 2+ years of experience with MATLAB, HyperMesh, MSC ADAMS, and Simulink
  • 2+ years of experience conducting CAE(Computed Aided Engineering) analysis using MBD (Multi-body Dynamics Method), FEM (Finite Element Method) and BEM (Boundary Element Method) software
  • 2+ years of experience building machine learning solutions for real-world applications
  • 2+ years of experience with machine learning or artificial intelligence techniques applied to vehicle powertrain NVH optimization

Our preferred requirements:

  • Must have strong self-discipline, initiative and possess a passion for life-long learning to face evolving challenges in rapidly changing mobility technology.

  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Demonstrated ability in the application of Machine Learning or AI in real-world settings with large scale data
  • Experience with Deep Learning tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or other frameworks on GPUs
