Marcum LLP, one of the largest independent public accounting and advisory services firms in the country, has an immediate opening for a junior or mid-level IT Business Analyst to be an integral team member in driving business efficiency and transformation through innovation related to the technologies used by the firm’s Audit/Assurance Advisory Practice.
The Assurance Business Analyst may be able to be remote from a Central or Eastern time zone location, with a preference to candidates local to a current Marcum LLP Office.
Experience with financial audits, audit application analysis, or audit product support is REQUIRED.
The role is a combination of Project management, client services (internal and external clients) and business analysis and requires experience in improving processes through the use of technology, such as BOT/AI/RPA tools UI Path, Alteryx, Blue Prism, AA), ETL, and/or API. InTapp knowledge is a huge plus!
The role will work directly with the Senior Manager – Assurance Technology and the IT Development, RPA and BA teams, as well as with the business in determining requirements and solutions in regards to using/transferring and sharing data as it relates to assurance services and the processes around using the technology.
This Assurance Business Analyst must have the ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Must be able to effectively listen and respond to business and IT objectives along with shifting needs based on new work. Must have the flexibility to adapt to changing environment/requirements and manage multiple tasks. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to think outside the box and provide value in new ideas that will translate to measured organizational value.
Requirements:
- BS in Accounting, Business Management, Computer Science, or equivalent
- 2-3+ years IT business analyst experience or experience in audit delivery
- Experience in performing financial audits.
- Strong skills in Process Mapping, Business Process Reengineering, and Business Process Improvement; understanding of various levels of process mapping
- Experience developing business requirements, instructional and procedural documentation and presentations
- Ability to review, and optimize workflow, and automate key activities for repeatable quicker execution of operational tasks
- Must be able to perform data mining, analyze systems and applications holistically; this includes understanding them from a the front and back end as well as how the employee can best utilize the application
- Excellent project management, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to leverage Visio or an equivalent tool for process for workflow and related process designs
- Detail oriented with the ability to analytically identify issues, recognize and take appropriate action or recommend possible scenarios to solve problems
- Ability to serve on cross-functional project teams as a platform subject matter expert
- Ability to manage own work plan and schedule to successfully meet goals with tight deadlines and minimal supervision
- Ability to adapt to new applications and technologies and learn quickly
- Must have advanced high level knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience facilitating focus groups and actively lead or participate in business line efficiency committees.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and take ownership of problems and/or issues and ensures timely resolution
- Willingness to be part of IT Governance and Change Management processes
- Knowledge and experience in organizational Digital Transformation initiatives
- Active participation in technology innovative initiatives and programs
- Must have advanced high level knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook
Preferred Requirements:
- Project Management Certification
- Experience in the Professional Service Vertical – preferably Accounting
- Advanced Knowledge of Assurance Applications and work flow
Essential Job Functions:
- Ability to develop a long term plan for technology supporting various business units
- Experience building and presenting business cases for projects and software expenditures and defending those cases to executive management
- Leverage solid business analysis and data skills to support business unit implementation projects. Design and deliver solutions to meet business needs.
- Responsibilities include translation of business requirements into technical documentation and ensuring all stakeholders (business and technical) have a clear and common understanding of both the business priorities, needs and the proposed solutions.
- Translate business needs into technical systems and process improvement solutions
- Define and describe business and process requirements; apply “use cases” to help all stakeholders consistently understand their needs; facilitate requirements prioritization with the process owners.
- Evaluate process steps as value adding, enabling, or non-value adding; help process owners eliminate non-value adding steps.
- Work with multiple business and technical stakeholders to propose and deliver new/enhanced software designs and process changes in line with business priorities.
- Liaise with multiple business units and IT groups to gather, document, analyze and communicate the needs and requirements of the business users.
- Interface with application development and business application specialists to obtain required data from numerous systems and review and manipulate data as appropriate to satisfy business requests or to assist with automating, and developing enhanced solutions and work flow for defined solutions
- Project management responsibilities include participating in project planning sessions and managing deliverables across various groups within a specific time frame.
- Guide process owners in expanding or modifying existing processes and creating initial definitions for new processes.
- Assess workflow process performance.
- Recommend process and application enhancements.
- Perform quality control testing of the data content.
- Being involved with preparing validation and testing requirements for software packages and application updates
- Experience with managing vendor relationships
- Participate in cross-training building up knowledge and versatility in varying business units
- Create training materials for service support team to increase effectiveness of application initiatives
- Conduct training for end users on changed processes and new applications.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other team members
