Description

Principal, QUADS, Business Intelligence

The Principal will be responsible for managing our business intelligence tools, and collaborate with team members to design, develop and optimize internal visualizations that support the needs of multiple Research & Analyst teams. They will be expected to work with subject matter experts across the organization, understand the needs of our stakeholders and clients, and advise on the strategy and direction of dashboards that address evolving business needs and increase client engagement. They will collaborate and engage with the Engineering and Data Science teams in order to ensure the most valuable metrics, features and functionality are included in our tools and deployed in a timely manner. The role provides excellent exposure to a full range of topics important to CMOs; to peers in other business units and practices across Gartner and other CoEs, as well as the opportunity to apply and further develop product management knowledge and data visualization expertise.

What you will do:

  • Work with Analyst and Research teams to understand clients’ MCPs (mission critical priorities); suggest solutions within our existing data

  • Lead key communication strategies within the practice to drive awareness and scale of data assets.

  • Leverage your expertise in Tableau/PowerBI to enhance our dashboard offering and be able to field / answer incoming questions from analysts on all data sets

  • Define KPIs & Storylines for new dashboards; oversee the timeline and project plan for all dashboards in development

  • Focus on adoption of Tableau/Power BI across the organization to help improve workflow and analysis capabilities across teams

  • Work closely with management team and peers to build trust, encourage teamwork and drive the highest impact for data tools, interactives and benchmark research

  • Mentor and coach others within the organization to expand Tableau/Power BI expertise across the business and allow others to design and develop high value dashboards

  • Engage with stakeholders on ongoing dashboard needs; process feedback and prioritize requests against top business needs and product roadmap

  • Collaborate with the team on nuanced data needs for new and emerging industries; remain a close partner to R&A leads using data and tools that support research planning efforts

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Data Science teams to prep data & build Tableau datasets

  • Design and develop dashboards keeping in mind UX best practices; build intuitive user interfaces for optimal user experience

  • Collaborate on the testing and iteration process with Research and Analyst teams; focus on high priority feedback to increase adoption

  • Lead the training, and product roll-out process for new dashboards; collaborate on training content & case studies as needed

What you will need:

  • Superior understanding of data visualization and storytelling to help analysts transition research ideas & concepts to useful tools for client engagement

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interest and love of data & data pipelines

  • Superior customer service ethic and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to perform gracefully under pressure and meet inflexible or shifting deadlines; ability to context switch

  • Positive, solution-oriented approach to problems

  • Availability to perform as part of a team as well as individually

  • A willingness to be flexible as product needs and priorities change/evolve over time

  • The ability to prioritize effectively & communicate with stakeholders at various levels

  • An interest in collaboration and teaching others

Qualifications:

  • College degree in a related discipline

  • Expert in Excel, SQL & Tableau

  • DBT and database knowledge preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience at a leading research / data analytics / BI / consulting firm

  • Experience in quantitative and business analytics and data visualization best practices

  • Product management experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of PowerBI and Python is a plus
